*** Day 4 ***

I sure hope I'm doing this right.  The chewable vitamins and the chewable calcium are the hardest for me.  I can sip sip sip all day and once in awhile realize I've sipped to much.  So far I don't have any adverse tastes.  I can tolerate what ever it is, Unjury, Fage, broth, popsickle.  I got home so late Saturday that I didn't really start until Sunday so this is really day 2 of the All liquid diet.  Not getting much more than 30 grams of protein in.  Just wanted to check in with you all,  I'm laying off the drugs pretty well now but I'm still sore and gasy...

More later, got get a little flatter.

Yep...sounds like you're normal.  I've graduated to calcium in pill form but still have trouble getting it all in (4 pills per day) and I hear ya on the Chewable multis....yick!!

Hang in there...it will get better!

Hi Heather,

I knew I was going to be in trouble when I didn't really like them preop either.  LOL!   So at least you say there is hope some where out there that things can go back to normal.  I don't think I'll ever complain about having to swallow a pill now that everything has to be chewed.

Gas...walk..walk..walk....still gas....{{sigh}}}

There is much hope!!  I'm right there with ya on the gas thing today.  Sorry...tmi but it has been worse since surgery!  Gas-X strips are supposed to be good!

I got some Gas-x but I failed to get the strips.  I don't know if it matters or its just one less thing to have to chew.  I've eaten several of them, but not the max amount for a day.  I wished to hear that gets better faster than it has for you....bummer.

On no...it really does get better.

It may be what I eat but i have more now than before.  HOWEVER...it's not painful like it is soon after surgery!!!!

Just like Heather said, it does get better!

I couldn't do the chewables right after surgery because it just gagged me so I did the liquid multivitamins and calcium. It was just so much easier for me.  As for the gas the first 2 weeks was horrible but the gas x and walking really helped. If I didn't move around enough it would get worse.  I quickly realized that anything that had milk gave me major gas bubbles. My first week of surgery I never even make to 20 grams of protein a day. So I think you are doing wonderfully. Keep plugging in everything will get easier soon. The first month is the hardest to adjust to.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I used to sip on chamomile tea for the gas and it helped so much too.

Take care,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Thanks, I think I might have some chamomile tea...that would be nice, I'm looking for some other tastes to have in my mouth...

okay, I'll consider that I'm a work in progress and that I'm on schedule.  Oh, I did buy some powder vitamins from GNC pre op and they were okay to get down in some SF OJ.  I may try them again to see how they work now.  My only compliant was I didn't realize it was 90 calories for one serving of the vitamins, but it did have 6 g protien as well.  I don't like the idea of 90 calories just to get down vitamins, but here in the beginning it might be okay.

I haven't tried milk yet.  Think I'll wait to get rid of more gas before possibly adding to the problem.

I think you are doing great for day 4!! I think I was maybe getting about 30 grams of protein in too. Gassy.....well yes I was for like 2 weeks but just like everyone says walk walk walk. The more you walk the better it gets.

Also like Cira, I also noticed quickly I could no longer tolerate milk it made the gas much worse! So I switched to soy and much better!
