Hi there,

This early out I only stuck to chicken, fish, shrimp & crab....

When I was like 5 months out I made pork chops in my crock pot and it was so soft and tender and juicy that I didn't have any trouble eating it. I also did the same with beef stew.

Good luck!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

I've noticed that a lot of people eat imitation crab.  But isn't that loaded with sodium?

Hiya!  at 2 months out I think I was eating the vegetarian style meats.  look into Morningstar Farms brands of vegetarian meats.  compacted meats are very hard for us to eat.  i still don't eat hamburger and I actually had some venison over christmas and it sat like a rock in my pouch.  if you DO have meat, make sure it's soft, and most importantly MOIST....the more lubrication you have, the better it will go down.  CHEW CHEW CHEW until it's mush in your mouth.  the last thing you wanna do is have it get stuck and then you'll have to live with the pain for a few minutes or

Please keep in mind that each doctor has his/her own protocol for what you should be eating at what stages.    You should be following their direction, because what works for one doesn't work for all.

I am almost 5 years out and I STILL have a lot of food issues mostly related to the dense protein in meats.   Chicken is often not my friend, while others can eat chicken all day long.   Pork/ham is very iffy for me.   I can eat limited amounts of beef .. small bites chewed VERY carefully.   I can eat shrimp all day long with no problem (as long as I don't take that one bite too many) and I've never had a problem with crabs.   I never really enjoyed crab pre-op because I couldn't pick fast enough to satisfy my hunger.   Now I can honestly say that I get full long before I'm tired of picking!

My doctor mandates protein supplements (i.e. protein drinks) twice a day for LIFE!   Even when I am able to get sufficient protein from my food intake, I am to drink shakes.   I have to admit that I am not good about that 2nd shake, but I do get one in every morning on my way to work.

As I said, each doctor is different.   The end result of the surgery is the same, but our insides may be arranged differently based on the doctor's surgical style as well.

Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Very true Mo!! However the list we are giving is a National list used in many Baraiatric plans. But no two people will tolerate the same two foods. I have not thrown up at ALL and I am almost 4 weeks out. Thank GOD! I thought I was gonna come close to once but nope I didnt. SO I guess I am one of the lucky ones. And my surgeons office stops protein shakes at 7 weeks post op. THANK GOD FOR THAT! LOLOL I guess they assume by then you are intaking enough with your food. ;o)
Everyone has to try what their Nutritionalist suggest atleast to see if they can tolerate it. I have learned that milk gives me BAD heartburn even with Pepcid. LOL
