Trying After WLS Foods BEFORE WLS
Ok so I have been trying different recipes that are supposed to be good for us after WLS surgery.......this morning I mixed a cup of greek yogurt {and I do agree with many of you, it is more like sour cream!}, and a half pack of sugar free instant cheesecake pudding together. I had my cousins funeral to go to today, so I figured it was a good day to make this this & let it sit. When I came home, I was tired, & decided to try my yummy looking concocture.
It was delicious! I was amazed! It went from sour cream funk to cheesecake heaven!
So.......anyone with other recipes that this "newbie, beginner" can test out prior to surgery, please pass em on!
Thanx Much!

JillyBean posted a couple of recipes the other day - they looked scrumptious!
I would like to warn ya that sometimes what may taste good before surgery may not afterwards, so I wouldn't get too excited and start sampling everything beforehand.
Last but not least, congratulations on becoming a Loser!

Gail - Aaron posted either late last week or earlier this week that he added s/f pudding mix (whatever flavor you prefer) to his Greek yogurt and called it simply "cheesecakeified!!" LOL!!! I tried it with chocolate fudge s/f pudding, and found that I still needed to add a couple packets of Splenda to satisfy my sweet tooth!! Jell-o does make a s/f cheesecake flavored instant pudding mix, though, so I'm gonna give that a try!!

Hi Heather!!!
I'll echo what Candy said - your tastes may change after surgery - so what you like (and what likes you) may not be the same post-op. As far as protein bars, shakes, etc., buy them in limited quantities that way you don't waste money. You can always buy more!!
I LOVE Greek yogurt!!! As you stated, plain it tastes like sour cream (and I use it just like that), but add some Splenda, and it takes on a whole new taste!!! This a.m., I'll have it sweetened with Splenda and peaches - YUM!!!!
Good luck!!

Tia,
Yes I have read on the Board over the past couple of years, how your tastes change & I am fully aware of that. I also, thanx to everyone here, know not to over buy the protein bars, shakes, etc. due to that same reason.
I am going to try the greek yogurt with the splenda & peaches for a mid afternoon snack today! It sounds good too!

Heather -
Oh, you're quite welcome!!! I see that Boxer Heather (there are SO many Heathers on here that we nickname them - don't worry, I'm thinking about yours!!!), uses hers in her protein shakes.
I eat Greek yogurt pretty much every day - either sweetened for breakfast, or plain or mixed with herbs for a savory taste. I even make dip out of it!! I also use fresh or frozen berries in it (any kind), and put Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal in it - it's a granola type cereal that has some added protein.
As far as the shakes, a few sites sell samples, which is a good way to try and not overbuy. Check out www.vitalady.com, www.unjury.com and www.bariatriceating.com.
Hope this helps!!
