got approved
Hello all. Well, the Kaiser committee met today and I was told that I have been APPROVED!!! Yeah!! I guess in the next few days they will give me the contact info for the surgeon (it will either be Dr. Cantor at Kaiser or Dr. Lin at GW).
How long does it usually take to get your surgery date after the consult with the surgeon?

Hmmm - I am not sure since I consulted with the surgeon before I went through the qualification process. If you surgeon has any requirements, i.e. tests he wants to do to be prepared first, that may be a factor.
Regardless, congratulations! It is wonderful to have this support from your insurance already out fo the way!

Yeah, Kaiser is pretty strict (and I work for them!!) I am totally psyched that they approved me, though!!
I was worried they wouldn't approve because I gained weight during my 6 months of supervision with the nutritionist, but I actually started this journey a few years ago but had to put it on hold when I shattered my arm and needed almost 2 years to get it functional again.
It sounds like some of the stuff may be a little backwards with Kaiser too becuase before they let you see the surgeon, you have to do the 6 months supervision with the nut (whi*****ludes classes related to gastric bypass) have your psych eval, attend 2 support groups, have a sleep study, and have the PCP evaluation. So, hopefully the rest will be smooth sailing.
I am looking forward to all the support from this website!! I have 2 good friends who've both had very successful experience with roux-en-y, but one is in Boston and the other in Kentucky!
