Morning, Julie!!  Thank you for your sweet PM!!!!

Me, too, I LOVE Old Bay!!!!

Way to go on fighting the donut monster AND losing two pounds!!!  Forgive me for asking, but are you still in the "thinking about surgery" stage?  Have you decided on a surgeon yet?  Just kind of nosy!!!  You know what?  Those donuts are nasty things - loaded with refined carbs that will make you feel more sluggish.............AND they're fried in LARD!!  ICK!!!

Speaking of refined carbs - I LOVE Panera's bagels!!!  Actually, I like all of their soups and salads, too!!!!

Oh, wow, that is so heartwarming about your Mom.  I know you felt like she'd just given you the biggest hug!!

Have a great day!

Tia

Julie,
Good Morning!  How blessed  yo are to have you mom recognize your voice after 9 months of time. Did it make you weep? I know I'm a big blubber baby about stuff like that myself.  What a wonderful gift you received that most of us take for granted.

I love watching the gardners planting flowers, the scent of spring in the air, and seeing the flowers bloom at different times. It's simple beauty that touches me deep.

Congrats on the moving of the scale! Donuts only look and smell good anyway. They  are very disappointing in taste.

Keep up the good work on having that scale move.

~hugs~

Morning Ren , Yes I cried and in the next breath she told me thanks for taking her to OC for a week at New Years. I said to her did you have a good time and she said  yes and thanks for taking me to Holiday Inns and Suites and she said I really appreciate you having my doc come there and take us all to the basement for our colonoscopies... I just had to laugh because other wise I would still be crying. Then she said Thanks for calling...

1.  That my husband and daughter joined karate last  night and are getting much needed exercise.
2. That my house is warm and toasty.
3.  That I have a job and enough work to get paid today.

Morning Mellie -

I've been wanting to sign my niece and nephew up for karate as I think it would especially benefit my niece with the exercise and give my nephew the social interaction that I think he needs.  So many of today's kids are computer/video game junkies that it's hard to get them involved in physical activities.

Gone are the days of my childhood when you came home from school, changed into play clothes and headed outside!!!!

Have a WONDERFULLY warm and toasty day!!!

Hugs,

Tia

Yes I am still considering lapband or maybe bypass. I would love to lose some weight before doing surgery. I just would be more comfortable. I have been looking at Docs as well. I have gone to a nut and have ben doing a food plan for about 8 weeks. No pasta, bread, sugar, sodas for the whole time. I am trying to be strong and prove that I can do this . I love pasta and breads. I can do without desserts but boy do I miss the pasta. I am learing alot from all of you and I do worry about complications from the surgery. Maybe within the next 6 months I will feel I  have lost enough  to think about the surgery. I had a friend who her best friend had the surgey at 35 years old and she had 2 kids. Sorry to  say she died on the table. Since then I have been very scared. I see all you all and I think you all are alive and well, so I feel more comfortable now than ever. I really never talked about this until I found the sight. Does it  bother anyone that I havent made the jump to do the surgery? Just curious...

NO, of course it doesn't bother ANYONE that you're still pre-op and thinking about the surgery.  I was just being nosy.  And we've had so many new folks it's hard, even for me, to keep up with everyone!

It's perfectly normal to have fears, everyone does, but like we've all said, think about the risks of dying because of obesity - for me, they "outweighed" the fears I had of the surgery.  And TRY not to pay attention to stories about people who have had complications - often, there is more to the story than people let on.

I personally think that your surgeon should be the one to decide which type of surgery would be best for you, as there are a lot of variables.  If you're going to trust someone to do ANY type of wls, you should also be willing to let him/her decide which surgery type is right for you.  The surgery itself and the outcome is as unique as the individual.  What happens to/for one person doesn't necessarily mean the next person would have the same issues.  There's lots to read and learn - become as educated as you can, because an informed patient is the best kind.

I know it's hard giving up the stuff you love, you're doing SUCH a good job, too!!!

Hugs,

Tia

i think knowing the potential bad outcome of surgery is important.   but also knowing the percentage incidence is important too.

according to http://www.the-eggman.com/writings/death_stats.html   ( i think this was from 2002)

while 3.1  percent of all deaths were caused by surical complications  13.1% of all deaths were caused by FALLS

puts it in  perspective for me.
