Excellent advise! Wishing you and your sister all the best. She is so lucky to have you. What an awesome support system.
I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Topic: incisional hernia
Almost 2 years post op. The most I lost was 90 lbs. I discovered my hernia at 4 mos. post op. Weight loss continually slowed. I gained 20 lbs. I'll be having surgery in April for repair. I can't help but think it's due to the hernia. Would anyone have any information on the subject or know where I may find information? I'm getting very discouraged. Any medical professionals I've spoken with will not seem to commit to an answer one way or the other. Thanks.

I applied at two different Starbucks in the area and never got a callback :(
I'm actually in the telecom/tech field but I'm a contractor for right now so no benefits. I was hoping to be hired on by now but it's not looking too good and they couldn't give me even a guess of when i might.
GBMC is far but i've been to that hospital in the past and I love it. I will check them out!
Again, thanks so much to everyone who has posted. I appreciate it more than you know!

Not sure what line of work you're in, but I remember reading that Starbuck's offers ins to part time workers, and I thought GBMC did too (since you're applying to other hospital). Although it might be a hike from where you are.
Don't forget to ask MHIP. I worked with someone who had it and I was surprised at what it covered!
Good luck!!

Topic: Hi Maryland!
HI!
I am scheduled for GB in June. I stumbled on this forum and wanted to say hello!
I was hoping to find others in MD who have had or are having WLS.
Has it been successful for you?
Hope to hear your stories - I need a little inspiration - getting a little nervous about what to expect.
Thanks,
Lin

Same here. This week has been a whole bunch of indulging. But today is my last weigh in and then the fun starts, except for tomorrow night dinner that is. Then the real work will begin.

Topic: RE: Emanuele LoMenzo/TEAM
The 6 month NUT counseling is well worth it. The team is top notch and they will be with you each and every step of the way. Before and way after your surgery. This is the team that you want on your side. I was/am/sort of , was so B-A-D, they gave me an extra month of counseling
. But looking back it was well worth it. I spent my 7 months eating my last meal.(gained 12lbs)...huge mistake. Take that time, listen and learn about WLS. It is time well spent. Time will fly by so fast.
Also, while you are waiting, you will need the time to do all your pre-op testing.
Good Luck.

Andy-
My deepest condolences on the lost of your brother.
I sort of hate back peddling but I would like to share this with you... On a previous post to another member about joining Weigh****chers. I posted what my NUT told me not to join WW. I joined a few weeks ago to encourage my sister who had recently had a stroke. She would not join without me joining. My sister is very strong willed, but when it comes to food she make all the wrong choices despite all her health scares. She is not a candidate for WLS since she has history of circulatory problems including a quadruple bypass, leg graft, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a history of cancer.
My nutritionist warned me that WW put too much emphasis on food. But I found this to be extremely helpful because it added another level of accountability and awareness to the type of food choices that I made. I still put my protein first, but I discovered that I make better, healthier choices. The new point system is excellent and I am beginning to lost weight again.
Other things that I discovered by doing WW was I ate too much and too much of the wrong things. I've began to incorporates lower denser foods like lettuce and more leafy vegetables that I was afraid to eat. Although I only consumed the lean protein but I was afraid to add lettuce because some people with RNY have difficulty digesting leafy vegetables. I find the roughage keeps me regular. I am hoping to follow WW until I reach my goal to encourage and support my sister in her weight lost efforts.
I hope this is helpful.
Encouragement... you are a success.
