First all let me congratulate you on your success. It so good to hear that there are doctors *****alize that we (WLS patients) are human. I hope you have continued success. I am sure now that the weather is getting better you will be motivated to get out and exercise. Keep the good work up.

Pretty cool that you have a doctor & staff that doesn't judge you for a couple of less-than-ideal weeks. I'm sure all of us have had enough judging looks & comments to last a lifetime!

Hey Crimson! I'm happy for you too.
Here's something that shocked me that the one nurse said - I might have had a better chance at VSG if I had started the whole process thru Sinai instead of being a transfer patient from Dr Long's practice. Ugh! Woulda, coulda, shoulda...... But happy to have ANY surgery at this point! Do you think they'll have any problems getting VSG approval for you?
Call me crazy but I'm actually looking forward to the liquid diet. Just bought a case of ready-to-drink protein from Vitamin Shoppe and they cut me a discount since I was buying so much. Have been worried about the size of my liver, so looking forward to 2 weeks of shrinking it!

Yep, as it's RNY and I've done all hurdles, meet criteria, etc - there's very little doubt I'd get approved and it's 6 weeks away so have plenty of time to appeal if for SOME reason they deny. Don't think they'd give a date if approval is questionable but I have so much documentation that it'd blow me away if BCBS declines.
Topic: LOVE Dr. Averbach and my 6 month check up
Just wanted to post about my 6 month check up.
I had been delaying my 6 month check in...one because I had gotten busy and had to pu**** back and two, because I knew I was behind in numbers and was afraid of the disappointment and shame.
I went in on Friday and first got to meet with the Nurse Cathy (Im pretty sure its Cathy). She looked over my food journals and said they were good. I told her that I had not been working out as much as I know I should and I had slipped a couple weeks with food. She assured me that I knew the error of my ways and I would be fine. That meant SO much to me, I cant even describe it. She said she knew I could do it.
Then I met with Dr. A. We discussed the same things. I wasnt scolded. I told him that sometimes I can be hard headed and he said "well, you arent the only one...everyone is hard headed sometimes." I told him that he would be impressed the next time I came in...and I plan on holding my word.
I cant express enough how wonderful it is to feel supported and encouraged by these people. Especially after some of the horrible experiences Ive had in the past.
This appointment reminded me why I chose Dr. A in the first place.
