Congratulations Suzie! You're so close now! I'm so excited for you! Best of luck as you prepare and if you have ANY questions, please feel free to PM me. Remember, I went through the same process with the same doctor/program just a year ago. Congrats!
Also, congratulations to you also, Robyn!

Hi Robyn,
I am having RNY as well but at UMMC. I'm so glad to have a "buddy" to go through it with!! We can definitely support each other. How cool to have your hubby go through it with you! That sure makes things easy in many ways!
Congrats to you both too!

that is my date also
I am just waiting for approval now. I don't forsee any problems but that is the date I am scheduled for. We will have to keep in touch. What surgery are you having done? I am having RNY at GBMC. My husband is having the sleeve on 3/8 also at GBMC.
Good Luck
Robyn

Topic: RE: Keep missing support group meetings and frustrated
I feel your pain - I've never been able to make a support group as it seems Shady Grove isn't having their group anymore. Definately can't make Wednesdays either.
Does anyone want to start a slightly informal support group at a more convenient day? It sounds like there's really not enough support group meetings in Montgomery county and I'm planning on moving my practice to a larger office. BTW I'm a licensed therapist. If there's enough demand, I might put this idea out on the board for those interested.

Suzie - thank you so much for your message! I was so touched that you felt such empathy for me in that moment and it much feel that much better knowing you WILL be there too. By the way, Dr. Kligman is a genius and you are in great hands. I wish you well as you go through your preparations (they are in many ways the hardest part of it all). Thank you so much for this info on the couch to 5k! That's PERFECT and I intend to really look into that!
Thanks again for you post. Please keep us all posted on your progress and I hope to see you at the support group meetings (every 3rd Wednesday of the month at BWMC). :)

Thanks! That's what I'm hoping, an overall healthy change for everyone here.

I haven't been here much...mostly lurking as I coast through my 6-months of NUT classes but they are now over and I'm just waiting on insurance approval and a date.
Anyway, one thing that has been on my post-WLS bucket list is to run a 5K. I don't know why but it's there and seems to be really important to me. Whenever I hear/read about someone running it makes me cry. Again, no idea why. Laura, I sat here crying tears of joy right along with you on that treadmill and can see myself doing the same thing if/when I hit the goal.
BUT...the main purpose of this post is that even at my highest weight I started the Couch to 5K program. ( www.c25k.com) It helps you build up to a 5K in 9 weeks. There are even ipod podcasts that will walk you through the intervals, etc. There are BB and Droid aps for it too. It is awesome. I was doing it until I fractured my ankle last year. My ankle is fine now but I'm waiting until after my surgery to start up again.
Check it out! And once I'm on the loser's bench with you, maybe we can run a 5K together!! :o)

Thank you!! Let me know when the next one comes around and I'll try to do what I can to go, I'd like that. I think I woke up grumpy a little this morning, battling an ear infection. My youngest is going to do the jump start program at the community college next fall and they have having a seminar specifically for these students on Wednesday night. I agree, sometimes our other priorities in life need to be tended to as well.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! Take Care!
