I am challenged when it comes to finding my way around at times. Thank God for GPS. I found it, it was pretty easy. I parked in a garage right in front of the entrance. If I can find it...I have faith you can too!
Good luck!

I had my surgery 8/17/2010 and was a size 22 266lbs and am now a size 8 164lbs. So maybe you should go smaller.

Most of my pre op testing (upper gi, chest x-ray)was done on the first floor of the building where there office is and the hospital is across the street 3-5 min. walk. you can just leave your car at the valet parking at the office building.

You are in a pickle and there is no way to get around this one. You may consider holding off until the very last moment prior to placing your order.

So here's my dilemma and seeking feedback. I'm going to be in my friends' wedding in September but will get my bypass surgery sometime this spring. Have a (final?) pre-op appointment with Dr. Long on the 24th to set my date!! Done with hurdles, lost 20 pre-op pounds, whew! But getting back to the point.... My friends have picked out their gowns/etc and have decided on the bridesmaid/attendant dresses. I have NO idea what size to order! How to predict what size you'll be 8 months from now when you don't have a precise date nor an estimate of how much weight I'll lose? Right now I'm a size 22/24 at 245lbs. I figured it may be safe to order a size 16, as it's easier to size down in alterations than let something out. So those who've had RNY or VSG, what do you guys suggest?

It depends on the insurance company. Legally they have 30 days to make a decision from the date they receive the submission. Check with the surgeon's office to find the date it was submitted. Call your insurance company and ask for a status update on the authorization. Sometimes it helps move things along a little qucker. And if there is an issue, you can find out what it is and get it resolved right away.
I had to do this with mine after 3 weeks had gone by and not a word. Turns out they were requesting something that was missing. As soon as I got it for them and submitted it, I had an answer 24 hours later.
Remember to write down the date, time and name of the person you spoke to. Depending on the insurance, also request an "reference number".

What direction will you be coming from?
The easiest way is to take 295 north toward the city. Just keep going straight as you go past M&T Stadium and Camden Yards, the road will take a sharp right and will automatically turn into South Paca Street. When you reach the intersection at Pratt Street...continue to go straight but stay in the left lane. Go straight through the light at Lombard St. Take the very next left onto West Redwood St....you will see the entrance to the parking garage on your right (it goes underground). Pull into the parking garage. After you've parked..walk out of the garage and the main entrance to University will be on your right. As soon as you enter the door, there is an information desk...they will give you the directions to the room you have to go to for your preop.
Give yourself some extra time just in case you get lost and/or hit traffic. It's usually not too bad in that area.
Good luck!!
