This last week I was scheduled for surgery to on my pelvis. My large intestine has prolapsed and my entire pelvis needed to be repaired. Initially, I was going to have my regular GYN perform the surgery, but at the last possible minute (literally) they cancelled my surgery stating the assistant surgeon had an emergency and my gyn would not do the surgery without him. There is a whole turn of events involved in this, including a ton of miscommunication and disrespect to me as a patient to the point where I ended up firing my gyn and completely cancelling the surgery with him.
During this whole fiasco, I had been in touch with Noel. As soon as she learned of my situation, she (and Dr. Kligman both) stepped up and jumped in feet first to get me some help as soon as possible. Both understood how urgent my situation is and spent the entire afternoon last Thursday searching and consulting with specialists at U of M to find the right one that was needed for my complicated surgery. Noel found the right doctor for me and even set up an urgent appointment with the doctor so I can get my surgery scheduled up there.
I was told that it was a surprise that it was even being done at a local hospital, this type of complicated surgery should be done at the University. I look back upon it now and feel the cancellation was a blessing in disguise. I believe it was cancelled initially for a reason that had nothing to do with any emergency. I think a higher power stepped in because I may have been in grave danger.
Anyway, about a year or so ago, I was told that once you become a patient of Dr. Kligman's, you are his patient for life. And he sticks to his word. I cannot say enough good about him and his staff...specifically Noel Stevens who went way above and beyond for me and has been there for me through everything...no matter what it is.
She truly is a good soul and cares very much for her patients. I trust her completely.
So if you're ever considering WLS...plz consider U of M bariatric program with Dr. Kligman and Noel. They truly will take the very best care of you for the rest of your life!!
I had Blue Choice with my former employer but they had a restriction to WLS coverage in their contract stating it will not be covered unless they have over 50 (full time) employees on staff. Which they do not, meaning no one there would ever be covered for it.
You would have to contact Blue Choice and ask what is covered under YOUR policy for WLS.
It really is by the individual, not the insurance company as a whole.

At GNC there is a ready to drink protein called 50 grand slam. It is 50 grams of protein per can but it was $2.50 a can. I used to drink half a can for snack and the other half late after noon. But it got quite pricey and I stayed using Body Fortress.
There are some sites where you can order samples so you can try the protein before you invest money in them. I would suggest to try them after surgery. For now you should be taking protein to get your body prepared for surgery so you can heal and recover quickly.
The amount of protein that you should be taking in you would figure out by dividing your weight by 2 and then and 10 to your your total.

I have it on the Wii and on the Xbox Kinect. You should try the XBOX Kinect because those game on there make u use your whole body. Arm, legs, and head. We have a dance gome and it is some hard work. I have lost 4 pounds just since I started these games (Workouts)
I did buy some kind of protein drink from CVS so I have not tried that yet.
AHHHHHHH but I shall wait.
Life has been keeping me busy. I am glad that it is warmer out there now. I have started walking on a daily basis for 1 hour. I am also dancing to Michael Jackson on the Wii and I am looking into getting involved with Zumba.
What are you all doing for exercise?
I hope everyone is doing great. Please join in and tell me what's been going on in your journey.
