My washer is dead!
There's a rubber belt that connects from the motor to the washtub - much like the fanbelt in your car.
For some reason, it's not turning, yet the shaft from the motor is, that's what's causing that burning smell.
Probably need to get someone to come take a look-see. I'm not that mechanically inclined, I just remember my dad fixing our washer.
Okay you're all gonna laugh at this one! I sound just like my father.
The room where the washer and dryer is isn't insulated
The damn hose and drain thing is frozen solid!
Now I just have to defrost it and I'll work!
That's just too funny, I guess the (-) temps we had the past couple of days really did a number on it!
I had this happen with an old washing machine. Take a small bucket and you can manually dump the water out, or you can buy a small spiphon (they are like 5 dollars at walmart), or you can use a garden hose and a bucket (suck at one end to start the water and let the flow of gravity fill up the bucket, lift the hose when the bucket gets full). Once the water is empty, have someone help you lift the washing machine slightly (please make sure you disconnect any water hoses, or make sure there is enough give in the hoses). Most older machines have the mechanism ont he botton. Look for the belt and see if it's still connected, if it is not put it back on, or replace it. If it's not the belt, I'd guess it's the motor, and you either need a new machine or a repair man...honestly if the machine is older then 5 years, your probably better off getting a new one at lowes or home depot, you can get an inexpensive one for slighly more then the cost of a repair man coming to your home).

Okay guys......ready for the next laugh! I swear I'm my father!
So, I decided to dump ho****er into the hole thing where the water drains from. Yeah, didn't work too well........so I thought
I'm busy cleanin up trying to figure out where do I go from there to fix this thing. Then all of the sudden........woooooosh!
Gallon upon gallons of water start flying out of the damn machine. Guess the ice broke! So, I'm there with pots and pans trying to catch the water. I'm sliddin all over the place in the soapy mess. It was terrible. And guess what? After all that the damn thing works!
Except for the cold water pipe! It's still frozen solid and I have no clue how to thaw the damn thing out. The rest of the cold water pipes in my house aren't frozen. Just the one in the back room.
So, needless to say, I have winterized the back room learning my lesson and putting a heater in the damn room. I even had to detach the hose to the dryer to get more heat into the room. Imagine if you will, lint flying all over the place mixed with water on the ground. It's a mess in there.
F*uck it......I need a beer!
