Another 5K
Well I did another 5K Sat. This one was for a childrens charity, Run for Hope. My time was 25:35, comes out to a 8:14 pace. Like Boner's post earlier, there is always somebody faster. The 3 guys ahead of me in my age group, all ran just slightly over 20:00 minutes. Can't even imagine running that fast, but 2 years ago I couldn't imagine running period.
I ran a little faster than my last one, my goal is to pu**** a little more each one. I know it's about the health and not the competition, but I guess it's a guy thing, I would like to be competitave as well. I have some kind of cold thng going on right now, so I thnk next time I will be able to to go a little faster. Next 5K goal is to go under 8:00 minutes a mile pace. That means running it in 24:58 I think.
June 14 is a 10K that I am going to try. Next week I am going to start working on it. I never knew it but there is a lot of these going on, I think I could run one every weekend if I wanted to. All right here in town or within 30 minutes of here.

Hey Pan - congrats on the great success with the running. What i've found being just over a year out, is that continuing to set goals is so important for me. Seems like I've spent so much of my life with the "GOAL" being a lower weight, and now it's about improved health, higher endurance, longer bike rides, more advanced yoga classes, socializing more, etc.... Keep on setting and reaching for those goals - it's an inspiration bud....

Way to go Panhead. An 8:14 pace is darn fast for someone who just started running 5K's. Won't be long before more of the people in your age group (and other age groups as well) is going to see nothing but your backside. Everyone needs goals for their life and you have set some great ones. Good Luck on accomplishing them. I know you will. Keep up the great work!
Keep It Up!! PH! Seriously! I had gotten to the point of running a 5K at two years out….. Only to sag back to an occasional jog now and then… I stopped about 3 months Post-PS, And never regained my thrill for it. Tried like hell, But the "thrill" was gone…. KEEP IT UP! Congratulations! Best Wishes- Dx
Pan,
Congrats on an awesome time. I just finished registering for a 5k for next Saturday. I haven't been running at all, so it will probably kill me. I'll be happy to finish. I've been going the wrong direction lately. Two years out and I'm sliding back into my old routine. Hopefully getting back into an occasional 5k will get me back on the right track. I won't come close to your 25:35, but you sure have given me some inspiration.
Thanks,
Floyd
