Guilty of drama!
thanks capt for the warm words. everytime someone says i helped inspire them i look over my shoulder. like when someone says gentlemen to the three stooges and they all look over their shoulders! yep, you got the order right, for me, it's the locker room. i don't do group to well so it's easier for me to come here and talk. i try to keep the focus there when i come here but alas, i'm only human and make mistakes and wrong turns. so i thank you guys too. take care.....carbonblob
CB, You know we got your back brother.....Ain't going to push us around. They can censor me all you want but the web has lots of other places to speak your mind. Amy and the other folks at OH gave us a free pass in the Locker Room many years ago. I sure most of these women that like to stir up trouble are just doing it for attention. If we don't rise to the challenge and just ignore them maybe their soap will come on TV and they will wander off an leave us alone....
you really have a point tim. i was thinking yesterday as i left the site there's two kinds of people i admire on this site. on one extreme are the Dx's. they let this crap roll off their back and take the high road and don't respond knowing it will go away eventually. on the other end are the baja's and boner's who, like spartans, will go swords drawn right into the lion's den with the only satisfaction that they will take a few with them as they die! you gotta love that too! so i'm somewhere in the middle and no leader, just trouble. i have to learn to stop stepping in it or take a position. see, i'm yoda here, i have a lot to still learn......carbonblob
Speaking as one of the newbies, I find all of you guys inspirational. This is a REALLY HARD thing to do - taking control of our own lives over the demons that lurk within.
Having a safe place to ask questions or just lurk and read about all of your success and HARD WORK to get where you are is a godsend to me. And for me, I'd rather be in the locker room where we all can understand what we are going through from a guys perspective. Keep defending the fort and doing what you think is right.
My personal thanks to you and the nice lady who sent the PM.

CB - no need to apologize.
I've started and stopped several posts about all of this drama. Here's the bottom line:
More people need to start filing requests / complaints to OH staff about the way that we're treated here in the Men's Board.
I'll preface this by saying that stereotypes suck. As former fat guys, we all know this. How people seem to equate fat with stupid and lazy simply because of the stereotypical perception.
That being said, it's always amazed and insulted me on how it's okay for women to apply the neanderthal stereotype to men, but the moment men start applying stereotypes to women, they get insulted. And they don't understand why it bothers us when they do it.
I, personally, don't apply stereotypes to anyone of any sex, color, religion, or anything. People are individuals. That's simply the way life is.
I take refuge in the Men's board because of the way that most of the women act in the "Main Board" (I put that in quotes because it's more of a Women's board then a Main board). So yeah, it bothers me when women come in here. Even if they're posting asking questions about thier husbands, sons, or boyfriends. As we've all seen (those of us who have been participating in The Locker Room for any amount of time anyhow), most of the time it's either a baiting to start some kind of drama, or it's a woman trying to squirm her way in and treat the Men's board as a meat market.
I have an excessivly low idiot tolerance. The last time some of this drama cropped up, I didn't participate for a while. I just chose, and do choose, to stay out of it.
That being said, and I think ALL OF US need to do this, is when this stuff starts to crop up, we need to report it to the OH staff and force them into taking some sort of action. Maybe, at minimum, they can choose to pick a handful of the regulars here into being moderators so that we can become a self-policing forums.
I don't know. The only clear-cut answer I see is for someone to start something up outside of OH completely. If someone wants to do that, I can help. All I want to do is help other men get through this process. And face it, this weight loss journey is one part of life that is very unique for men as compared to women.
They gave us these forums for us to have our space, yet they choose to come in here and then complain about what's in here.
Frustrating and discouraging.
