Motorcycle trip
We left out Saturday morning about 10:30 with another couple and rode the motorcycle to Tellico Plains, TN. At 26 days post-op, I knew I had to take it easy and make extra rest stops, which we did. Also, had to drink extra water since it was pretty dang warm and I had a fairly good sweat going on. We took our time and didn't get there until about 6:00 pm. We stayed overnight in Madisonville, which is about 10 miles north of Tellico Plains. We always stopped at a Cracker Barrel so everyone else could get something they enjoyed and I could get eggs with cheese - either scrambled or an omelet. Dropped in to WallyWorld and picked up some Myoplex Lite protein shakes too. All in all it wasn't that hard to get in the protein and fluids I needed.
Got up Sunday morning, stopped and ate breakfast at the cafe in Tellico Plains, then headed across the Cherohala Skyway , which is called the "Ride Above the Clouds". It runs from Tellico Plains about 45 miles to Robbinsville, North Carolina, and is an absolutely beautiful ride. Then we headed south down US 129, picked up I64 to Hgy 72 and headed west back towards home.
Got in at about 8:00 last night. I was pretty tired, sunburned and a tad sore inside, but feelin' like I'm starting to live life again!! The weight I've lost already made a big difference while riding the motorcycle. My azz didn't get nearly as sore as fast as it did at 366. Must be the fact there's less lard bearing down on my tailbone.
WooWhooo!!
Life's already gettin' better!!
Hey guys, let's all get out there and take our lives back by the gonads!! We deserve it!!

Sounds great. I bought myself a bike when I hit the century mark. My wife is now working on getting surgery too. Says she won't get on the back til she is down 50 pounds. May have to opt for a different bike by then too. My Shadow Spirit ain't made to comfortably carry 2. Would like a bigger cruiser by then. Congrats!!
Hey Bama,
I've made that ride (at almost 400 pounds) and am making it again next month (at about 260). I'm a little concerned about the long trip from Indianapolis, via Tail of the Dragon, to Raleigh Durham without tha ass padding I had at 400 pounds! I've got a gel seat that should help.
There's a great little motel in Robbinsville called the Two Wheel Inn. Nice rooms and a little attached garage for your bike, too. That whole trip, and the Great Smokey Mountain National Park, might be the most scenic ride I've made -- and I've been from Michigan to Florida and Maine to California.
Now that I'm down 130 pounds I feel great on the scooter!
Keep the rubber side down, Bama...

Hey Bama, ive done that ride myself. Dragged my R/K pipes on the Dragon too. Ill be up in Ashville this summer and im hoping to have dropped some more weight by then. That RSV sure is a bear to handle when we weigh so much. Im impressed...26 days post op..wow.

Congrats man, was never able to make any rides back in your area but have ridden some great rides out here on the left coast. If you get out this way try the "Highway to the Sun" in Glacier National Park absolutely gorgeous ride.
Of course any ride no matter where and what kind of weather is better than the best day in the office.
Keep on keeping on.

Hey Bob, I wasn't able to ride till a month out and even then it was a short ride here and there.I just wasn't physically able to thats all. You're obviously coming along nicely in your recovery. What do you ride? I have a 2000 H.D Road King. Its my primary transportation but I also have a Pick-up for those nasty rainy mornings. Any way ,I'm glad you're on your scoot.. Ride hard, ride safe......Inky
