2nd Quarter Report
When I was brand new at this, I liked to see guys who were ahead of me in their journey post some of their results so that I would know what to expect. With that in mind, my 6 month surgiversary was yesterday and I want to post some numbers for you newer guys to check out. In my opinion they're pretty pedestrian compared to some others on here, but by God, I'll take 'em.
Surgery Date 11/26/07: BMI - 58.4 5/26/08: BMI - 38.9
Weight - 442 Weight - 303
Chest - 57 in Chest - 49 in
Waist - 67 in Waist - 51.5 in
Hips - 64 in Hips - 51 in
Top of Thigh - 40 in Top of Thigh - 31 in
Shirt - 22/37 or 5xlt Shirt 19/37 or 3xlt
Pant - 56's Pant 46's and some 44's
My goal is to be at 265 by the time the third quarter report is due. Luckily summer is here so I'd better get my ass in gear and get to work. I'm trying to get a guy to email me some pictures he took of me over the last couple of days so I can post six month pics, but he's an absent minded sum***** and I'll probably have to go over to where he works and email them to myself. But I'll post them when I get them. Like many others before me, I'm not the same guy I was before I started and the pictures really tell it.
I do appreciate you vets for the leadership you have provided for me and the others. Some of you guys are amazing and have set the bar high for the rest of us. Thanks. JF

Congratulations on your results!
Today is my 6-mo anniversary, one day after yours, and it was interesting to see your results. Most of my past 6 months has been spent beating myself up (or at least cursing my body and all the many more successful OH members) about my glacially slow rate of weight loss compared to others, but upon reflection, at least by some metrics, I seem to have done almost as well as you.
BMI has gone from 55.8 to 39.9 (finally no longer SMO!)
Waist has gone from 56" to 44"
Shirt has gone from 3XL to XL
On the other hand, my weight only dropped from 315 to 225, with 25 of those in the month before surgery. I'm not quite sure what explains this, because I'm doing everything right; I just can't seem to lose faster than 10-11 pounds a month. I wonder if it's my geezer-ish age (52) or my hobbit-ish height (5'3"). If I continue @ 10 pounds a month, I'll be satisfied; I'm just a-fearing that I'll have jumped out the window of opportunity too early.

I'm 48 (47 when I had the surgery) and 6'2". So that explains some of the difference in actual weight loss. But our beginning and current BMI numbers are very close which indicates that proportion wise we're on very similar tracks. Congratulations on your new life as well. JF
PS: I'm pumped to be out of the SMO category also. I feel skinny but am still obese by definition. I wonder what it will be like to only be overweight.

JF, pedestrian my AZZ! You are doing awesome! 139lbs in 6 months usually only comes with massive amputation. 1/3 the way through your “Honeymoon Period” and even after 18 months, the “tool” still works. Keep it Up! Best Wishes- Dx
