Remember this is a journey, not a race. Everything happens for a reason.  So just try and relax and take it in stride. Play the banjo.

Patience, Michael, patience.  Got to crawl before you can walk.  As mentioned before in prior post the Docs are looking out for your best interest overall.  My surgery got postponed for two weeks because of sleep apnea.  Bama Bob was on the gurney with the IV in his arm when his first attempt was scrubbed by his anaestheologist, or however the hell it's spelled, but he got it done two weeks later.  Set backs are nothing new to the process.  Hang in there.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

On April 15, I was on the gurney, IV's in, and ready for my surgery to begin when the surgeons said "WHOA! Not gonna do the surgery today - we need more heart tests first." I thought they were kidding me, but no, they were serious. Seems they did not have a test they required due to my previous heart attacks, pacemaker and stent. I was in shock and then pissed.  Then I realized . . .  they were looking out for MY interest, and I wouldn't want it any other way. They could have gone on with the surgery and if something went wrong, just blamed it on my past heart history. It cost them plenty to scrub my surgery after everything was ready - I was preped, the OR was ready, surgery team and nurses in place, cardio team there on standby. But, thank God my surgeons were looking out for me. They re-scheduled my surgery for April 28and I had to get the tests, get a letter from my Cardiologist, and then go through the pre-op liquid diet all over again.  But in the end, it was worth it. My surgery went flawlessly and, so far, I haven't had any problems and am down a total of 97 pounds.  Michael, it may seem like the surgery is never gonna happen, but when it does, you want everything to be in your favor as much as possible. Hang in there man!!

I really appreciate all the advice and encouragement.  Gez do I kinda feel like a whiney ***** after hearing some of the things ya'll went through, but it helps to know so many others go thru the same thing. I know it takes time, and I do take comfort that my doctor is making sure everything is good before he does anything.  I wouldn't want a surgeon that just looks at me and schedules me because he has a payment due on his vacation home.  I am determined, and I will jump the hoops and do what it takes, because I know this is a life-long change, not a quick fix as you say.  I am also glad that I don't have to do the treadmill thing, and they are shooting the med in me to race my heart.  If they give me a light bulb during it though..........    Ya'll are great, and I promise to hang in there.  Michael

Michael, hey your not a whiny ***** or at least not anymore whiny then most of us. Like you alot of us in the past have started things with great enthusiasm and put it aside. I have had my own disappointments and lived thru many friends here's disappointments. but persistence is the key. If there was ever a time to stay focused it's now. Everyone of us can attest to great health improvements because of WLS, somethings we couldn't even imagine! So any time your feeling knocked down post will pick you up brother! You'll be pic'n an grinnin before long. C'ya Bob
