SF Carnation Instant Breakfast Drinks...
I was just wondering if anyone used these drinks in the early phase or perhaps now instead of the protein mixes? Maybe add some PB2 to boost up the protein?
I am on Optifast now and someone in my family had the protein mix from Walmart...I took a sip and wanted to gag! I didnt realize that my drinks had so much more sugar than the protein drinks. I know we are supposed to keep it between 5-7 grams of sugar per serving....I was just curious if anyone substituted the Instant Carnation drinks in place of the protein drinks.
I am going to have to make some adjustments to the protein mixes if my NUT says that the Carnation drinks dont provide enough protein and I must have the protein mixes...

Yeah, I heard that it's gonna be a cold winter. I gotta get me a new pair of boots since I dun walked the soles of mine, so I'll pick her up a pair of size 6 shoe boxes while I'm there at the General Store. A little twine for strings and some newspaper stuffed inside and she should be fine!!
BwaHahahahaha!!!

The first couple of months you really should be using something with "whey protein isolate". The reason being is that not only does it have alot of protein per oz, but it is very easy for the body (and pouch) to absorb. It took me a long time, with trial and error to find the right one. I would go to the local support group and ask to try people's favorite ones. No easy answer. Brian
I actually use this stuff with protein powder and soy milk! Costco has some of the best soy milk around (unflavored) and I'll shake up a scoop of unflavored protein powder with the soy milk and then add a packet of the Instant Breakfast... all together, I get about 45g of protein out of 8 oz's...
Really good either pre or post op!
