Valuable Tool after WLS

If you haven't already, start keeping a daily food journal and continue to from here on out. Write down everything you drink and eat and the protein values, number of ounces, etc.  Also, write down how far you walk each day, as well as any other exercise once you are able to do exercise.  Also, denote any physical conditions - nausea, stomach pain, headache, etc.  It is a very useful tool that allows you to see exactly where you are, have been, and what does and doesn't work for you personally!

When I had the abscessed tooth, the antibiotics made me nauseated and I just could not eat anything solid, and even had trouble with the protein drinks. My food journal showed that during that 3 week period, I only got in about 60 - 75% of the protein I needed. As soon as I was able to tolerate food without getting totally nauseated, I increased the protein to levels above what I had needed prior to the antibiotics.

I can look back on any specific day, or week, and see how well I did  as far as protein intake, fluid intake and exercise - and how it related to my weight loss during that time.

Again - it is a most valuable tool to assist you to be successful!!

Agreed! You might want to look into the Calorie King software that permits you to do all that you described, including keeping track of your physical fitness.

Thanks for the advice

Great advice, Bama.  I have learned the hard way that reality is sometimes very different than perception.  Thanks

Great reminder, Bama! I used Fitday.com online to track my calories, nutrients and % of protein, fat, and carbs I was eating. It's all about awareness and accountability and tracking what you eat provides you the awareness then it's up to you for the accountability.

I've been trying to do that too, but I can't seem to find the right book/journal to write it in. What kind of book do you write yours in?

Rich, I just use a plain old spiral notebook. I write down everything I eat and drink, the time of day, grams of protein, number of ounces of liquids, etc.  I also have a spiral notebook and track my exercise.
