So fast !!!!!
Well Im approved after just 1 week after sending in info to Aetna. Im histatic,my surgery is set for August 11th ,2008. I did the 3 month supervised diet with physician and had no problems with getting approved. Ive been contemplating this surgery over a year and a half and now Im sure this is what I need. My pre-op visit is August 7th,and was told to do nothing before except nothing to eat after midnight before surgery. Im sure all of you know what Im feeling right now. Now comes the hard part and telling my supervisor and in such short notice. I work as a Electrical Distribution Dispatcher on shift work. The day of my surgery is on my downhill of days at work so hopefully it come at a bad time to the office since most of my 2 week recovery will be during my 8 days off. Ive been more of a lurker here than a poster, but just reading all of yalls post have answered all of my questions. Now Im asking for yall to become close friends and be here for me like yall have been there for everyone else. I could sure use some friends who have experienced this journey. If any of yall have anything you would like to share with me I would appreciate it. Last of all keep me in your prayers and keep posting because there are many others like me who just lurk and stay quite. Yalls journey teaches us all and with yalls dedication to this site has helped me and others to this point. So for now let the replys flow and I hope to gain your friendship and knowledge from this journey to come.
Welcome on in. Here's one I wish somebody had drilled into me. Take a lot of pictures pre op and measurements so you can record your journey that way also. Pictures speak a thousand words as you can see.
Ask as many questions as you needs. You won't find BS here though. Be prepared for some tough love

Be sure to keep us posted and ask alot of questions...the guys in here are definitely helpful with a minimum amount of BS!! Of course we will all be praying for you as we are all in this journey together. Yall (gee I love that bein from NY!!) take care and listen to your dr. and nut. Time will go fast now till surgery....we'll save you a seat on the losers bench! Good luck!! John
Congrats to ya! Start asking questions - none are too dumb or silly, research about life after surgery as far as the nutritional requirements, start preparing mentally for life post-op. This is not a "miracle cure", but it is a "miracle tool" that, when used properly and coupled with walking and exercise, can change your life for the better!
