Scott if you don't slow down and really chew you will keep getting sick. Try using a toddlers spoon or fork that will give you the portion size you need, also put your fork down between bites, count your chews 25-30 times per bite. Time yourself some use a egg timer I just look at my watch still at 4 months out still monitoring my time. But try to stretch it out 30-40 min without going over 45 min. If you think your doing this and you continue to get sick you could have a stricture (where scar tissue tightens) a simple proceedure of dialation will fix you up. Hope this helps. C'ya Bob

well seems liek these two things could very well be related...
I remember back for me...I had to concentrate...no talking, no tv..all was quite for those few mins, for me to get in my nutrition...
to this day..if we have a gathering..I can not eat with the group...I always feel like I have to make conversation..and one bad chew or swallow..and the party is over...
try cutting out the destractions...for one...if you do something like ground menat...put ketchup on it..makes it slide better...a little FF dressing...but becare ful that stuff will make you dump...you get to experiment

There’s the learning curve…
Eat slow, or feel sick and vomit,
Eat slow, or feel sick and vomit…
The idea is, that alone will get you to slow down,
Because the sensation is immediate.
And it takes some time to alter long term eating habits.
I guess I stent the first 8 months
Spitting “That Last Bite” into a napkin, rather than swallowing it
And feeling nauseated.
Aim to never have a bite of anything in your mouth
Larger than the last joint of your index finger.
(smaller if you can deal with it.)
And the also work toward stopping while you think you still
Could eat about 3 more bites.
If after about 3 to 5 minutes you still feel hungry,
And not just- “Not Full,” but actually hungry,
Then have another bite.
After a few weeks of that, you’ll get in the habit
Of stopping before you are too full and feeling crappy.
Now, IF you are even getting “kick back” and feeling like
Even soft foods and liquids are making you vomit,
Then have your doc scope you to check for a stricture.
Some do have their scar tissue close down the diameter of their stoma
And have to have it dilated.
It happens.
It is Far More Common however, that it’s just
Eating Too Fast, and a Bite too Much.
Hang in there.
All of this crap gets Much Easier each week.
