Did you crush your meds post-WLS?
Just wondering how many of you who stayed on meds after WLS were told to crush them before eating them. How long did you have to crush them before you started eating them whole again?
For that matter, how many of you crushed your vitamins after WLS and how soon after WLS did you start taking your vitamins. I used all chewable vitamins after WLS and started taking them the first week after WLS.
Thanks

I stopped crushing my meds at 3 weeks, which was good, because they tasted vile. I've never had a problem even with large calcium citrate pills.
I take 2 Centrum Chewable tablets as my basic multi-vitamin; I could switch to ordinary non-chewable Centrums, but I like the orange flavor. The claim that chewables are absorbed better can be dismissed by placing a vitamin tablet in a glass of water; they invariably dissolve after 5 minutes.

I was told to crush everything for 4 weeks. I switched to as many liquids and chewables as I could. Started taking my Ultra mega's and other meds whole at the start of week 5. Took everything one at a time until I felt comfortable. Of course now, I just throw them all down! ;-)

Yeah, a few weeks crushing and trying everything to make it bearable -- mixing with Jello at first, then yogurt.
The worst of it was the 300mg Urso twice a day. That stuff is BITTER, like chugging bile. My pharmacy could only provide it in capsules -- which mean unscrewing the vile things and pouring the powder into the aforementioned.
On my one-month checkup, the doc rewrote the prescription for tablets, and by then I could take them cut in half (same for my BP meds), with a little skim milk.
I'm still doing the sugarless chewable vitamins.

I guess I am the exception to the rule. I was never told by the doctors at Duke to crush anything. They did say I could use chewables it I wanted to. I never had a problem with my meds I just took them. I do take sub-linguial B12 pills everyday. All my blood chemistry has been normal for the past 2.5 years so I assume I'm fine. I even give blood twice a year.
My last level checks showed I'm (still) anemic
... My N.P. advised switching to pediatric liquid Feosol instead of the pills (I take 2 in the a.m.) for faster absorption
.. However, my local pharmacist claims there is no such thing, or, as far as he has been able to find, any OTC liquid iron supplement, for that matter ..
He therefore advises I crush my Feosol tablets for quicker absorption, so I'm trying that ... Hopefully it will do the trick ..
