DOCTOR'S APPT.

Well, on my way to Oklahoma City tomorrow to see my doctor.  I haven't posted about my appt here, but have on my blog.  My cardiology report, showed that my heart pumps out 37% of the blood when it contracts (normal is 55%).  Well, the appt was suppose to be today (8/13) and was suppose to see his nurse. I have really been strict lately with eating like 1 meal per day, and drinking Atkins low carb shakes.  I am pretty sure I have hit the 16 lbs this month I had to lose to get my surgery scheduled, so I have been counting on my surgery being scheduled.  His office called almost 2 weeks ago, and she told me they were changing my appt to the 14th because the doctor wants to talk to me personally about my report.  She said he might want me to lose more weight, but she had no idea how much.  So, this has been a real tense couple of weeks.  I don't know if he is going to make me lose another 60 lbs, or 10, or even cancel the whole thing.   Now, my wife has had problems with the bones in her foot and last Friday had a cast put on for 4 to 6 weeks.  As her doctor was putting on the cast, he asked me if we had a wheelchair.  My poor 37% heart sunk out of my chest and into my non-stapled stomach.  She has to be off her foot for 6 weeks and I have to wheel her back and forth from the bedroom to living room and if we have to go anywhere.  So, even if he schedules surgery, I will have to put it off until she is up and around.  Sure can't push her around after I had surgery.  When it rains it pours!   Michael.

Hang in there Michael! Everything happens for a reason, so they say. And I am starting to really believe that. If you recall, I was yanked off the table and told my surgery was being postponed for 2 weeks because the hospital staff had failed to do the cardio tests that my Doc required. I was disappointed, mad, upset, bewildered, and downright pissed about it at first. Then, I realized that my Doctor had actually put ME and MY SAFETY above profit. He could have easily just done the surgery and if something happened said "Well, he had heart problems, ya know!"  But he didn't - he put my HEALTH and WELL BEING first! That made me happy that I had chosen him to do my surgery. When I did have the surgery 2 weeks later, it went flawlessly!!

So, look for the positives in this my friend. This may be a blessing in disguise!!

P.S. - Sorry about your wife's foot - hope she has a speedy and full recovery!

Try to stay positive.  Did I just say that?  The one good thing I thought of is that you may be able to get some exercise pushing your wife around in the wheelchair.  You'd have cardio against resistance plus you'd be holding on which would support you.  Just don't overdo it.

Ya know, Bob, I did forget about you being yanked off the table, but I remember now you saying that.  Thanks to ya'll for the encouragement.  I will maintain a positive attitude.  Michael

Tough blow, MIchael but your day will come. Just keep your eye on the prize and it'll be here before you know it. Best of luck to you and your wife.
