Seat problem resolved on my Trike.

The local bike shop referred me to a mechanic who works on Harleys and he took the challenge of making a shaft for a removable seat.  Total charge was only $10.  He tried it out and got a kick out of it.  I need a removable seat because of large swelling on my right leg--I can't get on if the seat is in place.  Now I'll have to slowly start exercising.

I talked to my brother last night and he encouraged me when he said it took him about two weeks to get used to his recumbent bike.  I'll probably be working on stride length and rhythm as I get started.

The manufacturer makes Scooters, wagons, and Trikes.  The adult scooters support 500 lbs and the adult trikes support 750 lbs.  I weigh less than that, but most trikes only support 250-300 lbs.  Scooters support far less. Go to  http://kaz-usa.com/TRIKE.html .  It comes shipped in a box and all you have to do is attacth the rear axle, rear wheels, and handle bars.  I took down the dimensions of the various Trikes and settled for the Large Trike rather than the Super Large Trike because of my unique difficulty with straddling a bike/trike.  Most men would be better off with the Super Large Trike.  Mine was $310 + $55 S&H  & box charge.  The Super Large Trike is $340 + $65 S&H & box charge.  My brother is used to shipping his bike all over the world and he said the normal charge to ship a bike is about $95, so this is a very reasonable charge.  Considering the price, I didn't think I could go wrong.

Interestingly, if you post a video of yourself on their YouTube site on your Trike or Scooter, they'll send you a check for $20.  They'll send you a check for $10 for a similar photo e-mailed to them.

I must say that the folks at the bike shop as well as the Harley guy were impressed with it.  It looks just like the type tricycles we had when we were kids (not big wheels).

YES Bob! Great for. It is a suprise how much you can improve each week with just a bit of exercise. And oddly it feels good.

Marc (been on vacation missed the run up to this.)

I ride as well and totally understand how rough it can get trying to get around on a bike. I recently just before my surgery did an off road ride for the first time this year with a buddy of mine and I could tell the pounds had honestly added alot of difficulty in my performance. I had gained about twenty since last year. The way I look at it exercise is like getting obese. It takes awhile to get it going but as you add more and more exercise the biggness will thin down soon enough.
