"Jock itch" IS a yeast infection, though it usually isn't caused by the same organism as is found in most vaginal yeast infections.
Basically, it's athlete's foot of the crotch. There are lots of OTC antifungal cremes, sprays and powders available to treat this, though you might want to see a dermatologist first.
Balanitis (not "ballinitis"
) is an inflammation of the glans penis; it _may_ be due to a fungal infection, though it may have other causes as well. This is more frequently seen in uncircumcised men.

but seriously, I used to wonder (and get grossed out
) back in my younger public swimming pool days when I'd see guys in the change room with bright red areas on their privates (esp. the glans) .. It seemed to mostly be a problem with "older" and/or overweight guys .. 
I asked my doc one day what was up with that, and was told that it was a fungal infection most likely (candidae albicans), which is the same bug responsible for causing the funky stuff with the gals' whoo hahs .. 
Just like for them, there are creams that can be rubbed on the affected tissues to gradually kill it off (the bug, not the package) over time .. 
(btw, it is also particularly prevalent with diabetics, since the high blood sugars apparently help "feed" it) ...
