All
I was wondering how many of you have  been tracking food and protien intake. I started with paper and pen but got away from it. Now I am using a program for the palm, calorieking, to help me do my tracking it has a list of foods and nut content. I need to get back to it because I know that is an important part to be sucessfull  with my wls. what calore intake are you shooting for? my nut wants me between 1000-1200 with up to 80 grams or protien. I can also track exercise done but with my minor complections I have not been exercising enough. I have been walking but need to get more in.

thanks

I use a website called www.thedailyplate.com to track every day. It has a great database of meals or food items to use or you can create your own meals and save them. Just click on the "Myplate calorie counter on the far right and follow the instructions from there...

And I use fitday.com. Works well. I think journaling like this is a really important part of the process.

I'm shooting for 800-1000 kcals a day and a tenth of that number as grams of protein (e.g., 900 cals and 90 g protein).

I do it the old fashioned way - got a spiral notebook and just write down everything I eat and drink each day.  I also denote things like if I have nausea, headache, etc.  Has been helpful to look back and see what has taken place over a certain period of time.

Fitday.com and the daily plate have always been the standard programs used to track calories in. I used fitday daily for a couple years post-WLS and was really able to hone into my nutrition awareness and accountability. Stuff like this:

Nutritional Actual Results:

Total avg calories per day: 1735
Total avg protein grams per day: 163 (39% of total calories)
Total avg carb grams per day: 165 (net 140) (35% of total)
Total avg fat grams per day: 49 (46% good fats) (27% of total)

Current Nutritional Goals:

Total avg calories per day: 1600
Total avg protein grams per day: 150 (40% of total calories)
Total avg carb grams per day: 150 (net 125) (30% of total)
Total avg fat grams per day: 50 (50% good fats) (30% of total)

Fitday also tracked the  %RDA of my nutrients and minerals.

Pretty anal I realize but only took a couple minutes a day and it was free so well worth it for me.
