"Why Height (Supposedly) Doesn't Matter"

 Great news! Now I can take off the elevator shoes!

Robert Reich only 4' 10" ? Now that's short. However, back in college in the 80's his book for my Economics class was one of the best reads. Probably tied with Uncle Milty's (Anyone remember Milton Friedman?)

Here in Japan, my 5' 9 and change has never been an issue, but had I been under 5' 7" I think there would have been the blessing of resignation to academic prowess at an early age. It would have been a lot more constructive than my obsession with guns and target shooting. However, the weights, wrestling and football did provide physical dividends.

I remember Uncle Milty but more to the point, does anyone remember Randy Newman and his infamous song?

Short people get shafted when it comes to BMI calculations.  (I also suspect that we don't lose as quickly after WLS as taller folks, though it may be as a function of %EWL that it all evens out.)

Being short never bothered me until I was told that I was 2" shorter than I had always believed at my initial consult!  Now THAT hurt!
