Hey guys, sorry haven't been around much.. been busy getting used to working again............................................................................

Yep!  I said.....WORKING!

lol...

After 6 years on the disability ranks, I finally .. finally was released to go back to work.  My old job was gone, but I've been working with the local Hospice service.  I've been helping take care of hospice patients.  Not exactly what I planned, but it's work, and it's emotionally very rewarding.  I'm only working with Male patients who need a caregiver to stay with them.  Only problem is, I always know how the assignments will end.

I'm still planning a return to driving in some form, but I have to see if I can pass a DOT physical.. been over 8 years since I tried.. pretty nervous, but I know God will help me if that's where he wants me.  My BP and stuff should be fine, just worried about my knees.  They are so mad at me for all this walking after 6 years of not using them.. LOL.. and anyone who's did a DOT physical knows you have to jog in place for 2 minutes so they can check your stressed BP.  I think I'lll do ok.. just gotta remember I'm still a big guy, and not to get to crazy.

Oh.. update... down to 488.. that's 168 pounds lost .  I know I'm still bigger than a lot of guys are when they START this journey, but it's so much better than where I was .. 656 and bedfast....

Well, off to catch up... and I'll try to stop in more!

Doing good.  The work helps to get your mind straight and gets it off of yourself.  Even the physical work of caregiving can aid in the weightloss.  Work that tool.  Brian

Hey Man!

It's been a long time!  I found myself thinking about you just the other day.  It's good to know you're doing so well.  Best of luck in the new job!

Thanks for checking in and great news with finding a job after many years of being unable to do so.  I work with a lot of people who work in Hospice and it certainly is a rewarding job to be sure, but tough to see people you care about dying.  I'm sure that you are a caring and compassionate helper.  Also, great job with all the pounds you've lost.    Ditto with the "Keep on Keeping on."

Thanks Stephan!

I never thought I'd do something like this... never been accused of being the 'caring and compassionate' type.. but hey, after being stuck in bed, having to have help with my 'business', I know what these guys are going thru.. no my case wasnt' terminal.. .. but I understand the indignity of it all.  If I can give them back a bit of privacy and pride, hey, that's cool with me.

Plus.. the nurses are glad to see a guy come in that can 'manhandle' patients around.. LOL...

Amigo, you are definitely one of the good guys.
Just think what your decision to fight back against obesity means to others! You're adding years to your life, mobility and the ability to help others when they feel most alone.
I admire that, very much.
God bless,
