Big Boner Lifts Off!

Hey fellas,

Just got back from Iowa where I had the privilege to witness Big Boner's official start of his personal Tour de Fat cycling journey. Big Boner (aka Larry, my older brother) had WLS 6 weeks ago so he's just beginning his exercise ramp-up from walking. From a weight-loss perspective, he’s down nearly 70 pounds and just recently went under the 300 pound barrier. 

I got his classic 1985 Panasonic touring bike tuned and ready to go and he hopped on it and took off like a frickin' pro. It's probably been 30 years since he'd ridden a bike so I was amazed how quickly he was able to get rollin'. He did 2 miles on his first ride then did another 2 miles the following day. It took me 3 times to work up the courage to actually coast on the bike let alone ride 2 miles. My first official ride was like 10 feet so 2 miles is indeed BIG TIME!
 

Congratulations, brother and keep up the great work. RAGBRAI2009 is a mere 11 months away.

Big Boner dug deep on this ride then did it again (and then some) the next day. He's my hero!

You're a goodun' RockyTop. Like I told you when we had dinner, keep up the bikin' cause, genetically speaking, you were built for cycling. Next time you're out here in Colorado, I'm taking you up in the "hills" so you can see first hand what I mean when I talk about the physics of the good old power to weight ratio.

Big Boner is one competitive dude, Bama so I have no doubt he'll be kickin' my ass on the bike probably sooner than later. What a thrill for me to see first hand the miracles of WLS, particularly with someone as close to me as Larry. To see him begin to regain his passion for living is, again, a true miracle.

Way to go Men.  You are one kick-ass family.  You help all of us out and then go home and get to play/ride with Larry.  Larry, keep up the good work and use Boner for every piece of info he possesses.  You guys look great together!
