Do you still eat at fast food restaurants?
Occasionally. When I'm on the road I sometimes grab breakfast at a McD or Whataburger. A little sausage biscuit or egg mcmuffin every once in a while can't hurt to bad.
I've only eaten lunch or supper in one of those places once post-op. I had a double meat cheese burger at Whataburger and it was friggin awesome as usual, but I could only eat half of it.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
I don't eat at fast food joints very much, but if I have to it is:
WENDY'S - Small chilli
TACO BELL - Beans & cheese
SUBWAY - 6" Grilled chicken breast sandwich or Grilled chicken roll-up
Any fast food joint usually has a grilled chicken sandwich, so I can buy that and just eat the meat. Or they usually have a grilled chicken salad.

grilled chicken strips from jack in the box. I can eat about half an order of those.
Every once in a while i'll steal a french fry from my son's happy meal.
I still have cravings big time for that food, and I know going in and having a burger would be bad.
When I ride my bike home from work, I pass right by a KFC and a Carl's Jr. restaurant, they share a parking lot. OMG it smells so good. I just have to ride by as fast as I can.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Scott good for you. After my second heart attack (7 weeks ago)...no more. The only thing I have is Wendi's Chili. When I go to the local coffee shop (which I do about 4 day a week), I'll order the same thing now...senior menu (even though I am only 53)...1/2 tuna sandwich on wheat toast (no mayo on the toast). It comes with a cup of soup like beef vegetable. I eat the soup, have 2 bites of the sandwith, then take it home with me. If it is a Friday (clam chowder) I'll have the salad instead. Very safe and boring. Brian PS at home I make a crock pot every couple of weeks. It last about 5-6 days. Alot of vegetables and lean beef.
M y nutritionist had told me that a bean burrito, or the combo (beef and bean) werent that bad as a lunch, good protein, and not too much fat. is that not a correct statement? I usually do one of those once a week or so for lunch
Also, breakfast, I sometimes get the burrito from McDonalds (not the new big one, just the plain egg cheese and sausage one), as per my NUT.
I guess theres a reason I dont like the nutritionist at my surgeons office, and that is that she is an idiot.

As a rule I don't eat at fast food resturants but there are times when I have to. I search and make good chooses like grilled chicken, wendys chili. I think all fast food resturants are getting better at offering healthy choices. I dont see a problem with stopping once in a while I wouldn'tmake it a daily thing.

Boner,
No fast food for me either. I have not had the fast food for about 5 months, my dr had me give it up 2 months before surgery. I was eating fast food almost every meal , was hard at first to go past the fast food and go grocery shopping.
Well now i am almost 3 months post op, I could never ever eat that stuff again, just driving by them places gets me sick to my stomach from the smell alone...

I have been told by my nutritionist that a bean/beef burrito is good too. I just have not had the desire for fast food since surgery. I keep thinking of the fat content - and it makes me churn. I have had some KFC mashed taters, but thats about it. I find the whole mentality of fast food doesn't work for me (at least right now) since I have to eat so slowly. I did hit the Village Inn for a chicken stir fry - ate such a small amount, I was embarassed and choked on paying the bill! Of course, I had cut out fast food a few months before surgery in preparation.
