Did we take the "easy way out" with WLS?

Hmmmmm . . . "Easy way out" - ain't no such thing as an "easy" way out of obesity, IMO. 

I agree with Bama Bob.

Ain't nothing easy about dropping a cornerback of weight (which I need to do), anyway you do it. WLS was painful, life-threatening, and expensive. But so was my morbid obesity.

Easy way out? They can kiss my dimpled ass. I'd rather think about it as them lacking the huevos to take the chance.

Nobody has expressed this "easy way out" thought to me IRL and I've only heard about it on these boards. My friends and family were stunned that I went through with it. Darling wife especially. I think she thought I'd climb off the guerney and go get a pizza. I knew I wouldn't as I knew this was my shot at increasing the quality and quantity of my years left on earth. Family, co-workers,  and friends are my biggest cheerleaders. Maybe it's because they knew I'd die without the surgery and it wouldn't be long before that happened.
 
To those who lack the understanding of that simple fact....F'em and feed them fishheads. ;) I don't need'em in my life. As always , JMO.

Easy way out?  Not hardly. 
Effective way out!  Most definitely!
There is a much hight percent of keeping the weight off after having lost it with WLS.  If I recall correctly, those that have the WLS are about 85% capable of keeping it off.  Those that  lose it by dieting are are only about 15%.
I like those odds myself.

No, THANK YOU Terry, for starting this thread and posing the question for discussion. I think these are great types of things to discuss here.  Good old fashioned discussion is how we learn IMO. 
Not to mention,  your question brought out the "Elequent Orator" in our 'ol Texan buddy Fish!!
