C'mon girls! Let's drop the BS and get on with the job at hand - SUPPORTING one another! *****ally gives a **** about whether I, either of you, Bob, Fish, Boner or anybody else thinks it is or isn't art?
Opinions are like azholes - we all have one and they pretty much stink!!
Let's all just agree to disagree without getting disagreeable towards one another - you know, like grown-ups.

Maybe. I finally looked at it after seeing your cross-post several times.
It could have been a lot more insulting, though the cartoonist isn't as highly evolved (or informed) as we are. A website called "deviantart.com" should be expected to contain somewhat transgressive material, and as transgressions go, it was mild.

Sometimes art provokes people. It just depends on whose pig gets stuck under the gate I guess. I'm somewhat offended with what little work I've seen of Robert Maplethorpe. Not enough to issue a fatwa on him, like some of those poor Danish cartoonists, but still offended. This doesn't offend me much. Nor amuse me. It's actually pretty ******g lame as cartoons go.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
I want to know how he got a picture That's exactly what I look llike with all the extra skin. It doesn't matter if you over reacted. You are entitled to an opinion as much as everybody else. I still haven't quite figured out if the title didn't say gastric bypass how would you know.

Evening all,
I think that the work represents an opinion by an artist. We don't clearly know what that opinion is. Great art makes people think and I believe that you sometimes see things you wish you didn't. I wasn't offended and I can see a little of myself in the figure. I was (and am) a blob of mixed up emotions, feelings and impressions and I could feel myself hoping that the little guy finally reaches the button. I liked it and appreciate it for what it is. It ain't the Mona Lisa but it is thought provoking and, for me, not insulting at all.
My 2 cents,
Jim
