Just wondering if anyone has problems with spicy foods. I'm only 5 days post-op, so I wont be trying it for a long time but I thought I would ask. I'm not a HOT HOt food kind of guy. I do however like to add mild hot sauce to alot of foods.

I haven't had any problems at all with the hot or spicy foods. I;ll be 5 months post-op on the 28th of this month. I love to microwave a Tyson chicken breast and then dip it in Louisana Hot Sauce. I also use the Louisana Hot Sauce on turnip greens.  Yummy!!!  I add the medium or hot salsa to my egg/fat free cheese omelets too.

I was told even in the puree stage if you like it and tolerate it go for it... I'd put Tabasco on the wife if she would hold still. Rocky Top

I too am a hot sauce fanatic! I love to have hot sauce....usually Tobasco... on almost everything I eat  (or used to eat). To that end...I asked my NUT about hot sauce and spicy foods and she said I could have as much as  I could stand....but remember...NO drinking while eating and not till 30 min. afterwards!! So be careful how much you use when you can start regular foods.

Just double check with your Doc and / or nutritionist, mine did not want me having anything spicy until my pouch had healed completely (I think it was 3 or 4 months post op).  Just a warning I am craving much spicier food now than I was pre op.  Try some Bajan Hot Sauce, made with habanero peppers, I love it added to Chili.

Good Luck

I think you need responses from folks who have had YOUR surgery.  Looks like you had LapBand.  I had RNY and have had to cut the spicy stuff a little because it can hurt the surgical connection of the intestine to the pouch.  But I don't see why you would have problems since your surgery doesn't involve such a cut.

Nothing comes close to being as tasty as Franks!   It isn't as hot as Tabasco but sooo much spicier !
