Calcium

Hey boys, question for long out pre-ops (2 years plus):

I've been taking Bariatric Advantage chewable chocolate calcium supplements since my surgery (I am 30 months post-op).  They have worked great for me.  Problem is, they are like candy to me, and we all know what can happen with that.

So I've been thinking of switching to something different, something not so tempting, but something this is totally absorbable, preferable non-chewable.  Any suggestions, including brand name and place of purchase would be appreciated.  Cost is not an issue.

Thanks guys.  Be well.

UpCal D is a calcium citrate powder that you can add to just about anything without any flavor / texture change. I've even added it to plain water without much difference. It comes in canisters, or single serve packets.

I also keep CitriCal Petites on hand at work. They're just calcium pills, but smaller than normal ones. I chew them up and swallow with something. It's a bit like chewing on sawdust, but it gets the trick done, and they store really well.

Why not just swallow them whole? I have the petites as well and they go down just fine.

Ditto what Lance said! That's what I have been using and I just swallow them - no problem.

Dunno...habit? I figure since I likely forget at least ONE dose of calcium per day, I ought to make it as readily available as possible

Upcal D is mislabeled...it has far less elemnetal calcium then the label suggests. If it is your main source of calcium, you might want to think about changing it.

I buy the Kirkland Signature Calcium Citrate at Costco 300 pills for 10 bucks. Each pill is 250mg.

I also use Up-Cal D and here is where I found it the cheapest, if you find it cheaper let me know.

As I stated above, Upcal is mislabeled, it has far less elemental calcium then the label suggests, if it is your only source of calcium, you might want to change to a pill form.
