Anyone Seen "Run, Fat Boy, Run"?

I heard a little blurb about this new movie yesterday ..  It's apparently about a MO or SO guy who gets talked into (or decides for whatever reason) that he's going to run in a notable marathon race, apparently ..

I'm curious as to whether it is supposed to be a comedy (yet another one of those disparaging "laugh at his/her expanse" type movies) or whether it has at least a serious side to it with maybe a moral for all or happy ending in it or some such redeeming quality  ..

I saw it. Pretty good comedy. British slacker (who MIGHT have a BMI of 26!) who has a great girl, let's her get away, tries to win her back by running against her new guy in a marathon. Finishes the marathon after the jerk new BF injures him in the beginning of it. Runs all night. TV cameras pick up the story. Big Rocky finish. Gets the girl back.

Pretty good movie. Doesn't really have to do with obesity though.

Directed by Ross from Friends (Schwimmer).

Oprah had a guy on her show a year ago (??????) talking about doing just that. He weighed like 390 - 400 pounds and he made up his mind one day that he was going to run in the Boston Marathon in 2 years and he did. He spent two years of his life dieting and training for the event and actually ran the BOSTON Marathon... I wonder if this is his story... Of course at the time I was watching the show I had just polished off a box of ho ho's and a quart of chocolate milk so then guilt set in.

I did some stuff like that pre-op. Went from 305 to 165 and did mountain bike races, long triathlons (not quite Ironman, but not far off) and full marathons. I love bikes and gear (and chicks) and used those things to entice myself to lose.

I gained some back (never the full amount, though) and then about 10 years later had WLS. Had I weighed 400, I feel certain I could have gone the extra time and lost it all.

Once you've done the big weight loss bit on your own a few times, reach your 40's (and being married makes chicks less of a motivating factor),  it becomes a lot harder, which is why I went WLS.

Thats quite an acomplishment.. I actually did the Chicago Marathon back in 1995 the last time I lost it on my own. I ran next to Oprah for about 4 miles and then passed her,, when she did it......Im actually very proud of that moment in my life.. I NEVER thought I would ever be able to do that and well never did again. I am amazed that you did all of those though one little marathon was A LOT to prepare for.

It was a very funny movie devoted more to lack of exercise than being obese. Simon Pegg is a little chubby and Hank Azaria is buff.

I'm aSimon Pegg fan (Shaun of the Dead) Hot Fuzz

He has a new movie coming out

hank Azaria is part of the Simpsons chain. You can definitely see it.

I saw Ghost Story this weekend. It is also a funny comedy

I might still go see it... But,, its not what I thought it was... I have to find the name of the guy who wrote that book.. I cant believe someone isnt going to turn that into a movie. Maybe yet to come.
It certainly would be inspirational..
