A celebrity in our midst, Ron Lester
Ron is actor and, most notably, co-starred in the successful football movie Varsity Blues. He played the role of the "hefty lineman." Career-wise, it took a lot of courage for Ron to have WLS since it possibly meant fewer "hefty" roles. Imagine how many movies John Candy or Chris Farly would have been offered after becoming thin.

Are you sure it was legit and not some hoaxster? 
Strange coincidence that I had just happened to mention Ron a few days ago on our DS forum .. We had a thread about what it's going to take to make DS more "accepted" and get the word out more about it to the general public. I opined that it will take some top celebs to opt for the surgery over the other types of WLS and let that choice be known .. I pointed out that the only famous person I know of that has admitted they have had DS is "Big Boy" Alexander of L.A. hip hop FM radio fame (and he has actually voiced his regret over his choice of WLS later on -
). The story goes that he had WLS on the suggestion of Ron, after seeing how well Ron had done with his. But question then was whether Ron had DS himself or another type of WLS (which no one seems to know on there). I Googled it and checked out Ron's website and a bunch of other places he is mentioned online and they just seem to all say "gastric bypass", so I would assume that means RNY. Btw, Ron has turned out "Mr. Hunk" after his weight loss (he makes NotDave look fugly .. j/k) AND his 17 (?) PSs to remove loose skin and do other stuff .. (wow - that has to be a world record 
- I wonder if he got "frequent slicer points"? 
)I have also asked around behind the scenes whether Jackie Guerra is still our official spokesperson for OH (no word about her this year), and again nobody could seem to give me an answer on that either.
No slam to Jackie, but it would be SO cool for Ron to be our spokesman, in fact I can't think of a better choice, offhand
