Hello guys, been awhile since my last post. There's alot of new faces and names since I've posted. Glad to meet everyone! Just to let everyone know I will be joining the losers bench on Oct. 2nd. I want to thank everyone for the help I received During this hoop jumping festival for Aetna. Just to name a few names, DX, Paul in Dallas,Scott Ian for the clothes we traded. I miss alot of the old timers, but they had to do what they believe is right. I can't wait until my first weekly weigh-in. Wish me luck
Thanks,Don
Thanks,Don
Oct 7, Dr Schweitzer , Johns Hopkins Bayview, Baltimore MD. Been lurking all year and just starting to come out and play (so to speak). Excited yeah, nervious, yeah. Tired of hearing negative things concerning wls, hell yeah
? Am I backing down, hell no (put too much time and resear***** Question for all the post wls'ers. Did you lose any weight up to your surgery date?? Although, I did the 6 month doc/nut. prerequsite (which was over since July) , I've got back to my normal habits, eat any freeking thing i want. I've gained a few pounds (5 or 6) since July. Been pigging out to say the least
before the new beginning. My doctor does'nt require any special weight loss program up to surgery . If any you guys did the same as I'm doing.......Did you regret it?

Hey Bronman and welcome to TMF!
No, my surgeon doesn't require one of those "lose x amount of lbs. before surgery" type pre-op diet deals .. In fact, I never really did understand surgeons that do (if we could lose weight and keep it off, why do we need the surgery? - duh) I sometimes wonder if the reason they require it is just to see what degree of "self-discipline" the patient has (or doesn't have) as to food -- sorta sadistic, if you ask me ... &:-x)
My surgeon DOES prefer (and I did) the one week liquids-only pre-op diet .. That one, IMHO, makes a LOT more sense, medically, in that if your surgery is going to be lap the surgeon wants your liver to shrink as much as possible beforehand so that he has as much room to maneuver his staplers, cutters, and other lap instruments in there .. In my case the liquid diet was very easy. as I was pretty much "self-sequestered "in my hotel room down in Brazil during that time, w. no solid food being brought into the place by me ..

DS
Miami Beach, Florida
Michel Gagner, M.D.
Since my surgery I've had only clear liquids and protein drinks.
I'm taking a chewable multi vitamin, calcium citrate, and vits A,D,E,K
I'm having 5 or so BM a day...thanks to Flomax everything is working fine.
The funny thing is...I don't feel like I'm losing weight. I haven't been on a scale...
I guess I'll wait till my first Doc post-op visit. My head is telling me nothing has changed...
is that weird or what?
