I've been a diabetic for a long time and on insulin for about 20 years.  I was told that my diabetes may never completely resolve, but it will get better.  Actually, I was kept in the hospital for an extra day because my BGs were over 200.  I'm off Metformin, but still on Januvia and Amoril in addition to Lantus and Novalog.  I'm nearly three weeks out and my readings are beginning to come down.  That means a little less Novalog every day.  I hope this provides a little encouragement for you.

By the way, I'm still not hungry.  I'm still on liquids, and am supposed to have five small "meals" a day.  Sometimes I "eat" just because I'm supposed to.  That's still hard for me to believe.

I am very happy for you.  Glad things went so well.  Stay with the plan-  sip sip, walk walk, and as you said, never trust a fart!!!

Hey Mars,

Glad you are doing well.  You'll be up and around in no time, feeling great!  As far as blood sugar, I was given an IV drip and the fluid contained gluclose, yeah, I didn't know till after the fact.  My sugars were all over the map while in the hospital, but leveled out while I was at home.  I think you'll see a significant difference very shortly.

 Our fav Mart-ian ..  there u are!   (I asked earlier) ..

Great to hear you are doing well and checked in with us ..    keep on keeping on ..

As to resolution of diabetes, I'm more famliar witth DS in that regard, and it is usually within two weeks of surgery for us (I think mine was longer, IIRC) ..  From what I have seen with RNYers, it runs the gammut from a few days to several months post-op ..  YMMV ..   And, unfortunately, for a few it still never resolves completely ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )

Congrats on your successful WLS, Mars. I went off all meds the day of WLS whi*****luded big time daily doses of Actos for my diabetes. Blood sugar levels returned to normal almost immediately. You won't be getting in much sugar at all so most docs seem to recommend getting off diabetes medicine immediately so your blood sugar levels aren't driven too low.

Talk to your doc and monitor your blood sugar levels several times a day post-WLS.

Have a great WLS journey.

Boner
