Are you on solids? If so i would chew it well and check the sugar content.  I would chew it really well.

7 weeks sounds too early for jerky to me. I eat it 2 or 3 times a week now. It is very high in protein and low in carbs, fat and sugars. It's a great snack or food source - just have to chew the h*ll out of it!

I've been eating a lot of jerky and I'm seven weeks out.  My Nut told me I could eat what I could tolerate and to just try things out.  I do fine with the beef jerky (about 1 ounce).  The chicken Jerky was too dry and caused me some significant problems.  It is true that some of them have more sugar than others.

My nut also said try it - and if it works - go for it! I started jerky this week too (5 weeks out). Terriyake beef works well for me - havent ventured beyond that. Makes a good lunch for me - good protein, and fills me up (about 4 or 5 small pieces at a time). I have to chew the crap out of though - but have had no issues with it.

I avoid the jerky's. Not because they are bad for you, but I have an intolerance when it comes to moisture and textures of things. If they are too dry and/or chewy, my pouch get's nasty with me. I even have to be careful though with fresh meats, if they are not moist when cooked.. it causes me problems. But I do love the taste of jerky!

Unless you have problem with salt, jerky is a great source of protein. Great  calorie to protein ratio as well (i.e. protein grams > 10% of total calories....higher the better)  My girls and I make our own beef jerky with our dehydrator so it's au natural. Tasty.

Here's the nutritional factoids for a variety of jerky types (no ostrich facts available though )

Boner,
Could you post how you make your beef jerky?
I have a dehydrator and would like to make some.
Thanks!
