On the road again!

Well guys... I did it..  those who've seen my journey know I had a long way back to even working... now, 10 months after surgery, not only am I working.. on Monday morning I report to Orientation for an Expedited Freight company.  This has been a long time goal of mine.

For those not familiar with Expedite Trucking, it's the emergency freight segment of trucking.  Companies utilize everything from Cargo Van's to Straight Trucks, to Tractor Trailors.  (More of an explanation in my blog)  I will be making my start with a one ton cargo van I bought, but will stil be staying out on the road days to weeks at a time, just like the big trucks.   These vans even have sleepers!   I'll haul one or two skids of freight at a time that someone needs across the state, or across the country quickly.  Just like big trucks, I had to pass DOT physical, background check for Hazmat, etc.

I'm down about 170 pounds now, and even tho still a big guy.. I'm moving so much easier, off my big pain meds, off the sleep apnea machine, and my BP stays around 130/80.

To those looking in!

THIS SURGERY IS WORTH IT !  I WOULD DO IT AGAIN!!!

Thank you so much to all of those who encouraged me along the way when I was considering getting the surgery.. you were right!

I'll see ya out there fella's.. just look for the long haired giant.. LOL.

I'll still be checking in here tho, thanks to the laptop and Sprint Air Card (free plug.. LOL)

Good hearing from you, Lyrical ..

For a minute, looking at your new avatar pic, I thought you were gonna say you got a new job as an advisor to the Hell's Angels or something ..

Congrats on the new job, man (and admit it - it was my "power suit" that wowed 'em!   )

Keep truckin' and stay safe out there ..   Report back here whenever you can ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Nick,
I do, but there's a fuel surcharge on all loads that helps cover the damage.

Thanks a lot!  Sure never thought I'd be out here this quick!

Hey Dale,

Great news.  Self-sufficient and working hard to support the family.  A dream come true.  Good luck on the road and stay with your program.  Please let me know if you come East on "the job."  Coffee and a protein bar are on me.
