So I get a call yesterday from Bob from Tennessee (aka RockyTop) who was in Denver delivering a load on his truck. Bob wanted to go on a bike ride while he was in the "mile high city."

I met him around noon and we took off to ride the famous Morgul to Bismark cycling loop which is one of the popular routes for hard core bikers out here in Colorado. This loop was made famous back in the days of the Red Zinger and Coors Classic bike race which, at the time, was the largest professional cycling event in the U.S.

It was a glorious day for cycling, sunny skies, 80 degrees, minimal wind and freshly laid blacktop. We quickly rode the eight miles to the loop then the real fun started. The Morgul to Bismark is 20 miles long and has three stiff climbs: The Rollers, The Hump and last but not least, the Wall. Needless to say, this ain't no easy, stroll in the park ride.

RockyTop kicked ass! He rode strong all afternoon and really dug deep to make it up the wall. 35 lung searing miles in total. AWESOME. As an added benefit, he set a personal speed record of 48 mph.

We finished the day with some excellent BBQ at Brothers BBQ and a quality discussion on the "miracles of WLS."

Thanks for the ride RockyTop. You are well on your way to becoming a "cycling Jedi" or so thinks your cycling mentor. Congratulations on a major WIN errrr FART, my friend! Way to stink up Colorado, now get your ass on back to Tennessee.

Thanks Cartje.
Thanks Boner for encouraging, and motivating me. May 14th 08' my wife bought me my bike I had a romantic vision of how it would be. Well as most of you know the romance and reality were two different visions, the first week I was hardly doing a mile. But reading Boner's triumphs kept me motivated and I stayed with it. Yesterday was a huge milestone for me and when Boner told me what he had planned really didn't know if I was up for the challenge. Boner had more confidence in me then I did in myself. I was delighted to prove him right.
Thanks Master Biker for everything!
