Newbie alert! Just poking in to say hi
I am new to OH and this is my first forum posting. I just wanted to say hi - get aquainted and possibly make a few friends.
I livei n Arizona. A little over 2 weeks ago I had my first consultation. They submitted my paperwork 6 days later. 8 days following that I received an email that insurance had approved me. They following day (last Friday) they called and scheduled me for my RNY on Oct 27th.
To say I am excited is an understatement. I have been a big guy all my life. I am 35 and curently weigh 415 lbs. At age 18 I was 315.
I have looked into the RNY now for 7 years. 6 yrs ago I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. 3 years ago plantar fasciitis. This year I was diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension. May 24th I was in a serious ATV accident and split open my scalp and broke 2 vertebrae in my neck. I stopped procrastinating and decided to do the WLS. I also have had asthma since I was 7.
I would love a shout out from anyone in this forum. Would especially love to hear from guys that started in my weight range and from guys in AZ.
Thanks
Dan

Congratulations on getting to surgery so fast.
I'm in Peoria,AZ. I 'm 39 6'5" 480 max lbs. 469 day of surgery. as of this morning 390. First month was a bit rough had my D/S open not lap. Second month has been very easy. Going back to driving nails on 10/20. between that and quail season opening up in October I should really be getting a good workout soon.
Good luck on your journey

Congratulations on finally making the right choice. Th speed of your surgery is unbelievable, I waiter 14 months, and the wait is the hardest part so it will be smoothe sailing from here. LOL
The guys in here can answer most of your questions, and luckily there is always someone that has had surgery around the same time as someone else which helps with questions that the WLS Elders don't remember. The first year is a blur, your body is constantly changing. Good luck and hope to see less of you.

Hey Dan,
I think we may have been separated at birth. I too am 35yrs old, weighing 410lbs with severe hypertension and sleep apnea and cronic back pain. I have my surgery schedule for Oct 28th hear in Cleveland, Ohio.
Congrats on your surgery date. I know I really didn't believe it was going to happen until I locked down a date and began preparing for it. The date can't get here soon enough now, I just want to begin my weightloss journey to a new and better life. I go for my pre-op testing this Thursday.
To say I am excited and scared to death at the same time is an understatement.

I appreciated the rapid and warm welcome. I am still reeling from the rapidness of the approval and then the surgery date. When they called me Friday and started throwing different dates at me I asked, "is this for the pre-op visit with a surgeon" to which they informed me they were actual surgery dates. HOLY COW! I was in (still am) disbelief.
I will try to update my profile but for the time being I am 5'11" and friggin fat!
I am also the father of 7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls, ranging from 13 yrs to 2 yrs. My surgery is scheduled 1 day before our 14th anniversary. I am so exctied to have more energy to play with my kids and gain back years of my life to see them grow and eventually become parents themselves.
What is the process for adding someone to a friends list? (Justin case I warm up to some of y'all)
I am excited to have found this forum - it seems the majority of wls are done by women and I really don't feel a connection when i look at their profiles.
