Been gone awhile
I kinda fell off the planet here. Its been quite a while since I last checked in. I had a tough few months with the weight loss. I even rebelled at going back to my DR. I guess 53 years of bad habits are really hard to break. My only solace was the fact that, while I may have eaten the wrong stuff, my band kept the intake very limited, and if it was really wrong..well lets just say it came back up to haunt me. I saw my DR and had him adjust the band a bit tighter and now its at its "sweet" spot. By the grace of God I found some peace and was able to get back on a very low carb, sugar, flour, starch free food plan which works beautifully with my band. I started this about 2 weeks ago and I dropped 17 lbs so far, for a total of 90 lbs since the band surgery in Sept 2007. I still have about 160 more to go, but im not counting. It'll happen when its supposed to. Im going to begin exercising with some weights this week. My good knee will need surgery soon too, which has been limiting the amount of walking that I should be doing. Im also going to try and be a little more active on the site.

Even though I had RNY, you know that I share many of your problems. The great thing about this forum is that the guys here will continue support you even if you slip. I just thought of 2 slogans from Overeaters Anonymous. The first is to Keep coming back--it works if you work it ( that may be 2 sayings right there). The other was a realization that having a slip is just a part of recovery. If you have a food addiction, recovery is going to take the rest of your lifetime.
As to the exercise, if you'll look at my Latest Posts, you can read about my adventures with my adult tricycle. Note: it is not the new Trikke that's on infomercials--my trike is an actual tricycle. I sometimes wonder if I would be better off with a wheel chair, but my wife said no to a wheel chair and ok to the trike. At least I use it almost every day. I don't go far, but I'm exercising my thighs and butt without putting any strain on my knees.

Dang...hope you didn't post that thinking you were the only one :^) Seems your story, and my story and many of our brothers' stories sound pretty familiar...but you've taken that next first step, congrats on that!
Don' t you just hate finding out that when everyone told us, "the band is only a TOOL"....they were right! Keep up your good work, there's nothing worth looking back for anyway!
