I have been in the habit for the last 5 months of going to the gym before work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings and Saturday mornings.  I get there at 5:00 when they open and what a great way to start the day.  I usually do 40 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and then about 20 minutes of weight work.  It has made a world of difference in my weight loss and overall health.  On the days I do not hit the gym I try to get in some other type of activity.  I have even ventured across the street to the local state park and started mountain biking on Sunday mornings.

Recently strained my rotator cuff on the left shoulder so I have been taking it easy on the weights and adding some additional cardio. it does fell like it's getting better so I will try the weights again on Monday.

I seem to go in bits and spurts. Go for 4 days straight and then not again for 5-6 days. I get in about 50 minutes of weights and stationary bike. I have however been limited because of a torn rotator cuff and achilles tendonotos. It is ticking me off that my body is letting me down.

This weekend is camping and should provide some good exercise even if I can't go hiking like I want to.

How is it possible that so many of you are doing like 2 hours on the treadmill and an hour on the weights?!?!

I do run/walk intervals on the treadmill for 15-20 minutes and then I will do some various resistance exercises for another 25-30 minutes after that. I usually break it up like this:

Day 1 chest/biceps
Day 2 Legs/Abs
Day 3 back/triceps
Day 4 shoulders/Abs
Day 5 core

Even if I could pump out a longer workout, my ADHD would never let me do it. I can't stand doing anything in the gym for longer than 20 minutes.

I walk at least 2 miles a day (never less, but sometimes more), but that is about it for now.  I will be 3 weeks post op next wednesday and plan on starting some light lifting.

I work out religiously everyday except for the Lord's Day and that is Sunday.  I workout anywhere from 2-2.5 hours each day.  I lift weights for an 1 hour and 30 minutes and then do cardio anywhere from 30-45 minutes.  I also spend about 20 minutes in the steam room as well - gives me a cleansing feeling.

Mon - chest/triceps/shoulders/eliptical machine/bicycle
Tues - legs/back/biceps/eliptical machine/bicycle
Wed -  eliptical machine/bicycle/treadmill/rowing for 2 hours
Thurs - chest/triceps/shoulders/eliptical machine/bicycle
Fri - legs/back/biceps/eliptical machine/bicycle
Sat - eliptical machine/bicycle/treadmill/rowing for 2 hours

Getting off my Ass was the best thing about RNY surgery.  I have a new lease on life because of all of my working out.  The RNY surgery was just a tool - the working out and diet are what really matters now.  So all of you slack ASS people not working out, kick yourself in the ASS and get moving.  We can all make excuses as to why we shouldn't or can't workout, but in the end you have to have some personal accountability.  You are doing yourself and your family a disservice by not exercising - in fact,if you aren't exercising, why in the hell did you go through all of this in the first place?  Ask yourself that question.
