So I got a call from my surgeon's office after my 3 mo follow up. I had my blood drawn and my Hemacrit (iron levels) were 803!!!. High normal is 410 and I'm not even supplementing Iron!

Have any of you guys seen or experienced high iron post wls?? I couldn't imagine so, but I'm kindof freaked out... they were talking about Hemochromatosis could be my problem, but they just did another blood draw today to confirm at my pcp's office.

Actually, I think someone posted on the main forum on this same topic a few days ago ..   Sometimes the levels can be strangely elevated, post-op ..

However, hemacrit isn't your only iron-related level ..   what was your serum (blood) iron level?  your hemoglobin level?  your platelet and red blood cell counts?        All of those can be important to a diagnosis as to unusual blood readings ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

So I had everything else checked out with my PCP's office. Their tests were the same as my surgeon's. Only my Ferratin levels were high. So I'm being sent to a Hematologist...
