Am I
The scale question is a tough one. I personally have never owned one. I will go to my gym and weigh myself occationally. For the first 6 months or so, I say that is just a nuisance and you are almost guaranteed to lose weight. After that it is really up to you. I mostly see it as a reason to get real frustrated if it doesn't say what I want it to. It is also a great tool if you check and you are 8 lbs heavier than you thought. (not that I have ever had that happen).

Hey Jerry,
You need to figure out for yourself how you know "when you've arrived" at your WLS destination. Most people obviously use the scale to let them know when they get to their goal weight. Others use pant size, body fat %, etc. to let them know. Still others just want to feel good physically.
All I know is how many pounds you lose is a good means for measuring "weight loss" success via WLS but it's by no means an end all. Being healthy is the end all. In other words, if you get down to 175 pounds but look and feel like crap, have you been successful? Don't think so.
How do you get healthy? Just like the Hulk Hogan said, "eat them vitamins and exercise."
