I'd feel better if....
I hadn't broken my foot. I think God sent that as a message for me not to have back surgery because my back surgery was scheduled for the 29th of December and I actually got so far today as to going to get my pre-op surgical stuff taken care of but then backed out. I decided that I wouldn't have time to heal everything (the foot, back, etc) and go to school all within 3 weeks time so I just decided to put it off yet another semester and hope I'm not in too much pain this whole semester. I will just continue to go to my pain management doctor and tell him to hit me with the strong ass drugs until I can get surgery probably next May or June. So maybe this broken foot thing was a message from God saying SLOW DOWN or something, who knows. All I know is I can't have back surgery and not be able to walk properly then hold a book sack all semester. That doesn't sound like healing to me. Ahhhh MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!
Hey Lance,
Hope everything works out for you. I too decided to avoid back surgery (major stenosis and psiatica). But mine only acts up when I play hockey and take some hard shots. If I avoid running and the impact, it's not too bad.
I think you've made the right decision because a healing foot is hard enough to deal with.
Good luck.
Guy
Play hard or go home.

I passed out once pre-op when I was thin and I cracked a rib. I had taken a laxative and it evidently caused an electrolyte imbalance or low blood sugar. I'm sure it's the same principle with dumping. Dumping maybe combined with orthostatic hypertension (getting dizzy after getting up when you've been laying down). I suppose it's a risk with any kind of dumping, because the effects on the intestines are similar to those after having taken a laxative.
Errr slow down a bit, Tickfaw's Favorite Son ..
First, how did you break your foot???
Secondly, what's wrong with your back, and why do you need surgery on it @ only 22 (or so)?
Are there any non-surgical alternatives you've checked into?

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Lance;
I hope I am not scaring you but please pressure them to get to the bottom of this. In December of 99 I started falling at odd times. When I fell I couldn't get up for a long time. It kept getting worse and worse until they finally admitted me for what turned out to be a protein and vitamin deficiency from losing too fast. I spent 22 days in the hospital, went numb from the chest down adn I do mean everything was numb and not working. It took a year to clear that up. I had to learn to walk and was using a walker.
Do not let this go by. Please
