I need some man food, I am not into the yogurt and cottage cheese. I just about never eat any breakfast or lunch and I need to start eating. I am only 2 months post op and want to get on the good track and stick to it.

Any advice? What about healthy snack food?

Well, it goes without saying that you really need to start eating breakfast...and lunch.  As far as breakfast food, I eat just about what a "normal" person would, just alot less.  Today, I had two slices of bacon and a a couple bites of scambled egg.  For lunch, I had about 70% of a small cheesburger and about 5 french fries.  Can't get much more "manly" than bacon, burger, and fries right?  Not saying that my way is right, but it works for me.  At 2 months out, you can probably start to experiment with new food.  Take it slow at first.

Good luck to you

Jason

Ken,

Protein!  Protein!  Protein!  String cheese is good snack food.  Tried any refried beans?  Eggs.  I'm partial to poached, scrambled or in a ham and cheese omelet.  A little patience is a necessity.  In short order you'll be scarfing down beef, pork, chicken and seafood.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I did do the refried beans once. I like them, use to get them all them time at the local Mexican Rest.

I eat chicken a lot, but getting tired of it. When I do eat lunch, it is usually a small chilli from Wendy's.

I went to a new Bass Pro Shop about 2 hours away over the weekend and ate at the restruant in the Bass Pro,  I had Tolopia, topped with grilled shrimp and lobster sauce over wild rice and steamed veggies. The best meal I have had since surgery.

But that was just once, last two days, I had navy beans for dinner Monday, and tonight a piece of grilled chicken. no breakfast or lunch.

Dude, you gotta do breakfast and lunch!  Know that it is easy to forget about eating when you don't feel hungry but part of the program.  Know I tend to pass on eating a decent lunch if I'm home by myself.  Tend to graze on the cheese and SF popsicles.

Chicken can be tough.  I had two instances of the foamies and both came on baked chicken that was too dry.  Learned on a turkey patty that anything with the consistency of a hockey puck to skip.  El Paso brand beans were my preferred.  Had to put some cheese in with them and a shot of ketchup did not hurt either.  Keep a can in the pantry as a just in case food.  Will confess to having some small containers of Ravoli and some of the Hormel Complete Eats in there as well.  Check in the freezer case for some of the bagged chicken and beef strips that can be used in fajitas.  The bag is resealable so you can take out what you want and put the rest up.  Maybe try some Bar-B-Que but stay the hell away from the baked beans and watch out on the sauce!  They may have way too much sugar in them and potentially may ruin your day.  Best thing that I eat now is steak and seafood.  Helps having a sig other who is also RNY.  Makes for some good cheap dinners out!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Does Banquet make a "Hungry Man" T.V. dinner - WLS-patient version?

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

I hear ya. I'm only a week out and still on liquids, but I definitely crave "man food" too . I just started chewing gum again today to beat the chewing frustration. By looks of the pic, it looks like you are a fellow Nascar guy. Am I right?

Big Daddy,

Loose the gum!  If you were to swallow the gum it would block your stoma and then you would be in dire need of an emergency endoscope to retreive it.  If you need something to chew on go with the SF popsicles or ice chips.  I know they are not very filling but they have some "crunch" factor.

Gum also makes you more gassy cause you swallow more air.
