HUNGRY after exercise.

I've been trying desperately to get back on the exercise wagon after falling completely off after the weather turned cold.  Today, it was unseasonably warm, so I went to the park here in town and ran one mile and walked one.  I felt like I was alive again!  It felt so good to get out get the heart rate up and break a sweat.  It makes me really long for spring time, I hate working out indoors. 

That being said (and I know this has probably been asked before), I was so incredibly hungry after my run/walk today.  It was almost like the old days.  I went home, ate an appropriate lunch, and STILL coulndn't quell the hunger that was roaring inside of me.  Is there anything I can do go prevent this from happening?  What helps you guys if/when this happens to you?

this happens to me as well.  I try to have a snack about 30-45 minutes before a workout. then half-way through I have half of a protein bar ( i use pure protein bars) and then when I am done with the work out I drink a 30g protein shake on my way home.  this helps keep the hungry away and keeps my blood sugar levels pretty steady so I don't get the post workout slump that I used to get. I also don't lose steam half-way through my workout anymore either. it's just what works for me.

Try a small snack about 30 minutes before exercising. Also, make sure you stay well hydrated during your exercise session, drinking about 8-12 oz. every 20 minutes.  Then,  some protein within 30 minutes of finishing your exercise.  Might help you.

Like Bob mentioned, you have to stay hydrated before during and after your workout (especially a run). Also, within 20 minutes of working out I drink a protein shake first and then I'll eat my lunch or whatever.
