Compulsive eating is not automatic
Hey, did I really say that? Yes!! I've been posting here that I struggle to stop compulsive eating because I thought it was automatic. I've described my near hopeless problem because I am a sugar and white carb addict as well as a junk food junkie. I can't change the effect these substances have on my body.
But, I can learn to resist taking the first bite through Cognitive Therapy or Cognitve Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I can make mistakes along the way and not be overwhelmed by them. I've only had the Beck Diet Solution since Thurs, 01-15-09, but it's already had a profound effect on me. It has given me hope. The author says that the book can work with any sound nutritional diet. I say that we should just use the diets that our bariatric professionals have given us.
By the way, I know that many of us react negatively to the word diet. I know when I had my first RNY back in 2000, they didn't like that word. A diet is just a way of eating. We all know of people with various medical conditions who must be on specialized diets for life. Following a bariatric diet that is high in protein, low in sugars and white carb, and low in fat is really not that difficult. It is something we can do for the rest of our lives.
The WLS provides us with the initial rapid weight loss. But, how do we stay on our bariatric diet once we are past the honeymoon stage? I know that I started to "cheat" before the end of that period and I was still losing weight. Cognitive Therapy seems to have the solutions. Instead of accepting my ingrained negative thoughts about food, it will teach me how to have thoughts to counteract them. And, I'll be able to develop ways to combat compulsive eating.

I can't help but feel that something bad is going to happen. I'm not gaining weight, but eating a little too much. I feel like a glutton and I feel wasteful, too. So hoping the workbook will help me to solve this problem.
There are lots of cheap mushrooms available here, as well as soybean pulp (leftover from soy milk and tofu production and then they have a couple of kinds of calorie-free jelly made from yams - Kanten and Tokoro ten, which are high fiber and would be pretty filling when eaten with the other two items. Gosh, I'm starting to think like a dietician!

Sorry, Kanten is seaweed jelly (no seaweed flavor):
