Funny FART

Okay, I haven't posted in a while, and this actually happened in November.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King was going to be released.  (Yeah, it's a dirty little secret of mine that my wife got me playing it with her)

The GameStop up the street was having a midnight release thing, my wife wasn't feeling well, so for the fun of it, and to help my boost my wife's morale, I went to pick it up so we could get it installed and play for a bit late that night.

So .. I'm standing in line, and this skinny rail of a geek looks at me and says, "You're one of those football jock types who is a closet WoW freak, aren't you?"

I looked around to see who he was talking to - he was talking to me.

Me?!?  A "jock type"?!?  Mr. Formerly 677 lbs a "jock type"??  I started laughing - it's all I could do to stay on my feet from laughing.  I'm the biggest computer geek I know, former band geek and JROTC freak, but never a "jock type".

At any rate, a quick update for those of you *****member me - I'm still alive, kickin', and doing well.  Busy with family, school, and job hunting.  I've gotten my CompTIA A+, Network+, and MCP, and am about half finished with my MCSA.

So .. anyone in the OC here in California want to give a former fat guy a chance?

I'm also riding my bike and walking / hiking.  Over Valentine's Day Weekend, my wife and I are going to Joshua Tree National Park and going to hike the Indian Cove trail.  It's only 4 miles, but it'll be a good off-road type start.

I'm also starting to get involved with SoCal Trail Riders (Mountain biking group) and going to go try my hand at the Fullerton Loop.

So, so far, I'm down 400 lbs, and doing great.

I did miss seeing your posts.  I'm glad to hear about the bicycle riding.  And, Wow!!!  You've lost a great deal of weight.  And, you're keeping it off.  Remember that it's good for all the men here to hear about long term success stories.

Dave, good to see you post again.  You have been missed.  Sounds like you are still doing awesome.  Your blog was the first I really read, and was, and still am, inspired.   Keep up the great work.  Michael

That's great. My sons are WOW people. They won't teach me how to play though. I play the RPG games on Facebook.

400 pounds!!!!!!!! omg that's incredible. I love the Final Fantasy games, not so much WoW...that game was aggravating to me.

I'm actually more of a Counter Strike / Battlefield / COD player - Team Fortress 2 OWNS my ass.  I love the campiness of it.  WoW is a departure for me.  For me, I have fun playing it because my wife plays it, and we tend to run together.

Though, she's leveled up a lot faster than I have.  She's got a level 80 Gnome Warlock named Munchken, a level 63 Gnome Death Knight named Fyona, a level 40 (something) Gnome Warrior named Pipsqueek, and a level 35 Human Mage named Syerra (She's the bank evidently, she's not even played anymore.)

I have a level 62 Night Elf Warrior named Magikfingers, a level 63 Gnome Death Knight named Shrek (Of course -Shrek and Fyona), and a Dranei Priest - level 6 named Phingers, whom I haven't played since WOLK came out.

But, like I said, I'm more into the FPS, having run a competative CS / Battlefield clan named Slackers United for a very long time (2001).

Dave,

What a fantastic story, what a great weight loss. it's nice to see you post. I like you have failed to post lately enen thought I do read this and one other forum each night. I have been traveling around the country for the last 3 weeks. I'm in New mexico now and will be heading home soon.
I have to also confess I love computer games. I'm in to FPS games only though. I love all the COD games. Have you tried the game Fear? there are 2 out now and a third continuation of the game to be released this month. Also far Cry and Crysis, all are great games and also medal of Honor. You can get really hooked on playing these games, but when it's cold out and there is nothing to do they are fun. Well good luck

Dan
